Can you live Off-Grid?

What I took away from Alex is flexibility, how easy is it for me to carry on if electricity goes from fulltime to part-time?

One thing that bothers me, I live in a 400 unit complex. And some portable generators are Noisy!

What I´ve heard about that is that living off the land was usually well worth the effort, excepting the raising of grains, which was an overwhelming amount of work for something they could easily and cheaply buy at the store even when their earnings were meagre.

I've always summed up the history of the 20th century as one big move away from the farm and the embrace of city living.

That's why the '60's TV series, "Green Acres", was so popular, by seeing the funny side of the reverse process.
 
I follow a few off grid youtube couples and that life is not for me. I like to be near everything. I don't even like the country.

30 or so yrs. ago we had some family members move to "the country", mind you that they were city people... born and raised in large cities. They started to wear bib overalls and drive pick up trucks. If they ever visited we would hear remarks such as "how can you stand living in here?"

They were "posers" trying to be what they were not. Funny thing is I grew up in the country, 3 miles outside of a town of 2000 people. No one wore bib overalls or drove a truck unless it was for work purposes. Trees and fields don't produce "good" people and cities can't make a person bad. I totally get wanting to move away from a crowded area and looked in to moving "up north" here in Michigan. What is surprising is that the use of drugs and the presence of crime is just as high up there or higher than in the tri county area of S.E. Mi.
 
I'm on a lesser grid! I don't use a microwave, clothes dryer, smart anything in my home so I have a smaller foot print without all kinds of technology being plugged in.
 
I'm not on any social media. I won't even click on a twitter of facebook link. I'm not even sure what instagram even is.

I don't own a smartphone. I don't even have a mobile.

That's the new off-grid.

De-furring (except for Furries), chopping trees and killing game are all over-rated.

I think you know what you need to do to survive. And I suspect that smart guys and girls have known this for millenia. There's always need for a great bj.

I tried growing strawberries from one of those tiny kits from walmart, i got a 1 inch leaf before it died.

But I do learn fast, maybe I wont have to use my oral skills to survive. :gogirl:

thats not surviving in any sense of the word, for them or any nation at large that aspires towards civilization.

Speaking of off-the-grid, I would rather enjoy being able to disconnect from this type of aggressive passive aggressive trolling. Notsomuch for my own sake, such unintelligible dribble doesnt penetrate my castle walls, but I am deeply concerned for its impact on us as a whole. Itd be comforting to know my fellow man, who I care about as a decent human being, wont have to read garbage like this.
