Can you recommend a good virus protection program

Another vote for AVG and Avast here. Norton and Mcafee are just crap. I had Norton free on a laptop once and it completely fucked up my wireless connection even after I had uninstalled it! I believe something got left behind when I removed it.

It really pains me when I see someone in a shop buying Norton for like £50.

In my opinion Norton and McAfee are viruses............

Especially with Norton, it puts many thousands of registry entries on your PC and once you put it on, you will never get rid of it completely unless you format your HD. It SUCKS DONKEY BALLS!!!!!

I had McAfee pushed to my work PC and it sucked too. It bogged down my PC so much I had to hack my work computer and manually remove it. My PC is fine now that the crap is gone.

I say go with Avast or AVG for free programs. But you already have Norton so I'm sorry..............you have my sympathy.

Spyware Doctor is my choice, i have used some and i didn't like that there was a couple viruses that my previous antivirus programs couldn't remove, their websites provided information of how to get rid of since the antivirus wasn't able to remove it, but it required a editing registry, command line and stuff.

also,,, I currently have a virus that is causing my computer to reboot. I think I may have caught it from the JUB Chat area and all the ads that are popping up. Zone Alarm was no help in this matter.

I currently use McAfee for virus protection, resource HOG that it is (see image), and don't have any problems, but I have heard that Avast is pretty good.

Hope that helps!

Just look at all the McAfee icons in Process Explorer:
