"Yes, Ma'am, I can."

The exchange is shortly after the 21 minute mark.

The video shows the bodycam footage of Stephanie Melgoza being DUI tested and arrested after killing two pedestrians. The footage also includes her time in the ER and callous disregard for the deaths. When first recorded, she commented that her night was "just beginning," implying the wreck ruined her plans.

Usually accidents sober up drunks. Even hours after the incident, she still doesn't care. She was only sentenced to 14 years. Horrific. And definitely justice denied.

Some people are sociopaths.

They have no mental framework for remorse or accepting consequences.

Remember 'Affluenza"?

Some people are sociopaths.

They have no mental framework for remorse or accepting consequences.

From what I understand, for many of them, it's almost like they don't have a neural framework for remorse or accepting consequences -- perhaps comparable to the autism spectrum.

This scares me.

And that's not just because it probably means punishment doesn't work and there's no way to reform or rehabilitate those people (which means you have to hope they do something bad enough to get locked up for life, just to keep them away from other people they'd harm).

It means it may only be dumb luck that I wasn't born like that -- and that I could be born like that (or, perhaps, was born like that) in another lifetime. And I'm horrified by the thought that I could do that sort of thing to other people -- other creatures -- in any lifetime.

We create mental illnesses and defects for those who are monstrous if our construct is that "normal" people cannot be both horribly evil and accountable.

This woman for all purposes is not only a fully functioning adult member of society, but a privileged one at a private university.

An idle thought suggests she will not survive prison. There is an unresolved disruption in the universe itself from what she did. That wave will rebound and find her. It will not be pretty.

Normal people are not horribly evil.

Anyone who has worked with forensic mental health providers would concur.

Mental illness like sociopathology is not an excuse for behaviour, but needs to be recognized. Everyone who has had a sociopath in their life will recognize the danger that these destructive people present.

And their total lack of remorse for the damage they cause.

She is all the more dangerous because of her privilege.

But it is very likely that not only will she survive prison, but will find ways to survive very successfully.

That is because psychologists and mental health providers don't have any ability to admit anyone is evil. Their only scale is aberrant or abnormal, and then to derive a supposed cause.

Corruption and evil can never be a cause with those presuppositions and prejudices. Everything is an affect instead of an attribute.

Their models do not allow for someone to not be impaired, to consider self vs. others and to choose self and cruelty to others as a rational, immoral choice. For the medical professionals, it's always an inability to care about others, never a choice to not care.

Those are postulations, not proven. They are philosophical beliefs hybridized with psychological and medical theory, or even less than theory.

I've no crystal ball, but perhaps we will live long enough to see her outcome.

May she be called to suffer greatly for what she has cruelly taken from the living.

Huge respect for the cop keeping his shit together, what a miserable pile of human excrement she is, such a vile bitch. ](*,)

I stand by what I've already said .. having experienced being in a court room and then reading out a victom statement on behalf of a family who lost their loved one and then to have the guilty party show NO remorse and turn around and say to the court '' so what, one less faggot in the world'' .. NO! I have not got one ounce of pity for people like them and I truly believe some people are just born cunts.

I don't think anyone here disagrees with you on that.
