  • Hi Guest - Did you know?

Can you smell Christmas yet?

At 8 am today (20 November), wherever you are, there will be 1000 hours to go till Christmas.

Argh. The awful and utterly tedious Frankfurt Christmas market in Birmingham city centre has been open since the beginning of November. Apparently, one can join a coach trip just to visit it, although why anyone would go anywhere near escapes me. If I want food or drink, I'll go to a bar or restaurant and buy something decent and get to sit down in the warm to consume it. If I want to buy Christmas tat, I'll go to Poundland or my local supermarket (which has been selling mince pies since August for Christ's sake) and buy it for less money.

Jesus Christ in a basket.

Christmas nonsense is the last fucking thing I want this year.

It's strange, but people seem to be putting out Christmas decorations earlier than ever this year, and I don't mean just the merchants. Maybe it's a diversion from all the nonsense of the Trump administration. Last night I walked around my neighborhood, curious about why so many are putting up their decorations so early, something I usually can't do until the second week in December. It's curious that so many people seem to be going all out to celebrate a holiday that commemorates the birth of Jesus, a Savior that nobody really seems to believe in anymore.

I have most of my (outside) Christmas lights up...but they're not turned on yet.
I've seen a couple houses in the neighborhood with lights up & on....still too early for turning on.

Not quite. I smell coffee and a birthday cake. First mine, then moms' and then.. then we wait for Christmas. Haha
