I don't know how you can do it! To the people who know how to do it, it seems just as natural as drinking water. After watching kill bill I really wanna do that whistle which Elle driver makes.

I can fairly well. I'm not amazing at it, but I can carry a melody and all that.

How can I do it? I don't know.

I can whistle both blowing out and sucking in, but I can't do the "fingers under the tongue" whistle. I've tried, but it isn't happening any time soon ;)

I'm strange with my whistling. I can do it while smiling, because of the shape of my teeth. I can also have the tiniest hole open between my lips and still produce quite a loud sound.

#-o

however, this provides me with great range, even though it's kinda weird :D

I can't make the loud call like some people can but I got a great range due to the fact that I played trumpet in highschool.

I sometimes have trouble doing the fingers-in-mouth type of whistle, and I've never got it to taxi-hailing standards. I can do the tuneful type of whistling though - I think it just takes perserverance if you can't do it at first. I think I made myself learn one afternoon when I was bored.

I can't snap my fingers though. That just hurts! I always had to mime it in school performances.

I can only whistle if I put some gum in the roof of my mouth.

i can whistle, snap my fingers, roll my tongue, get my feet behind my head, touch my wrist with my thumb and and ;)

I can whistle normally, y'know, the whole sorta mouth like an o, skip in your step sorta whistle. My brother whistles oddly, he looks like he's got a kit-kat in his mouth sideways and whole, and makes a much grainier noise. It's odd. Neither of us can whistle in eachother's fashion.

Corny - can you do all of that at the same time?

I can whistle with or without my fingers in my mouth and you can hear
me 2 blocks away.

I can whistle quite well, but only when inhaling. I cannot blow and whistle at the same time. And of course I cannot do the whistle with fingers in my mouth.

Can you raise your eyebrows independantly?

i had to try that a bit. i can raise the right a bit higher than the other. but not with the left staying completely in place, and not vice versa.

*scratches head* i believe i never saw somebody do that, i have to remember to ask people that :)

Despite the Sondheim song, Anyone Can Whistle, I can't.

I tried and tried all my life, but no luck.

I can't whistle no matter how hard I blow. Guess I should try blowing something else...

Quanchi, It is not how hard you blow, nor is it how hard you are when you want to whistle, although I believe that might just work.

I started to whistle when I was about six with that shrill whistle with the index and middle finger in my mouth to get people's attention.
When I teach, I still do that on the playground or when students are not minding my instructions. That works too.

Mainly I have always whistled since about 8 or 9 to musical tunes, and now when I am alone or doing something that is routine, I am well known for whistling a happy tune of one sort or another.

I believe I am right to say the keys are (1) relax, (2) let the tongue and teeth do the work and try to make a sound first with gentle blowing. (3) Quanchi, do not use your teeth when you try blowing something else. That could hurt the other and cause them to hurt you. But whistling is usually a sign that a person is having a good day, and in a good mood.
