Agreed. Though he has big shoes to fill following his father, he is still way better than anyone else. He is smart enough; we don't need any more eggheads to further ruin the country. But it's his charisma that will carry him far.

That's a nostalgia response to a pollster. People really want to be able to vote Liberal in this country. To turn that into an actual vote in their riding on election day, they need to see more than someone they would love to be able to vote for. Trudeau needs to show mastery of policy and priority. He needs to show Canadians he can own the issues that matter to them and navigate them superbly. His parliamentary outbursts are in aid of what? His affable demeanour and down to earth charity fundraising boxing maches accomplish what exactly? He needs to be able to move policy, because that's what Harper is starting to do.

If you get the ontario and quebec votes, you will be prime minister. I'm just saying Canadians have a serious probability of saying "He hasn't paid his dues yet." There's a lot we like about him but not one reason why we'd have to say we need him doing this job right now. And that's the bar he has to cross. People want to put him through his paces on hard policy issues; they need him to make more sense than Harper on the budget, on privacy and our private lives and harper's morality police, on growing the canadian economy, on national unity and canadian citizenship, on lessons from history.

It's not enough for Canadians to think "He'd make a nice Liberal party leader." They need to be demanding "We need this man for Prime Minister."

That's his challenge to figure out, but I'm not waiting. If some other Liberal comes along first who has got all that sorted out, he's our guy (slash girl).

Justin will run and win. He'll probably have to prove himself as leader of the Official Opposition first, after the next election. Doubt the Conservatives will lose in 2015. As much as people like to bad mouth Harper, he knows the most important thing Canadians care about right now is the economy and the government has done an outstanding job given the circumstances. I'm hopeful to see a Justin Trudeau PMO in the future.
