Depending on which type of cancer, and which treatment regime, yes semen may be affected. Though swallowing semen from a cancer
patient, will not put you more at risk of getting it yourself..:)

Aids often perhaps always eventually results in cancer, including the liver, and aids patients sometime attribute their illness to cancer without mentioning the aids. A sexually active gay man who says he has cancer might cause you to wonder.

Dude.
That was a rather sweeping indictment on gay guys who do have cancer, and cancer only.

One of the long-standing findings is that because cancer is caused by a genetic change to a person's cells, it is unique to that individual and cannot be transmitted from one person to another.

There are some cancers that may have a connection to viral infections like HPV but every viral infection doesn't cause cancer- again, it's something that is unique to the person and their genetic profile.

I talked to a guy who said last month he found out he has lung cancer, but he seems cool and doesn't sleep around. Not sure what to do, or if it matters.

What to do? Continue being his friend, just as you were before. People who have serious illnesses want normalcy, so there's nothing specific to do.

^No, that is not what KaraBulut meant, if the guy has HPV, and you do indulge, then yes you may catch some form of Herpes.
If the guy has non-related HPV Cancer, and you do indulge, you will not get cancer from him.

Keep on being his mate, if he wants to share, you can always ask if he has had any defining HPV diagnosis.

^ thanks Adam. :)

Well I'll have to ask then, I haven't met him yet. He seems nice so far. It's more a one off type thing, or fwb if I'm lucky.

Medic1 clarified my point but just so it's clear...

Lung cancer isn't contagious. About 90% of lung cancers can be traced to environmental factors- smoking being the most common but other chemicals and foreign substances like asbestos can be the cause of lung cancers. There's no virus connected to lung cancers.

There are some cancers that we know are related to viruses- HPV, which causes oral and anal cancers, being an example. And medic1's point is also worth re-emphasizing: while these viruses are contagious, the cancer that they can cause is not contagious.
