Okay, so I dragged my tired old ass onto the 4:45am bus to Boston (thankfully I bought a little travel pillow, makes it easier to nap when your head is not getting smacked against the window). Had my MRI done, then walked around for a couple of hours, and then had the CT scan and got the mask made (it is a plastic wire mesh that forms around the face and is then attached to the table to keep you from moving around). I had a meeting with the doctors and nurses and my treatment will be on October 2nd. The results are that I should only need one treatment with the cyberknife. The "thing" on the front left lobe is still just that, and unidentifiable "thing". They say that it is either another tumor or it is a blood vessel. The doctor said that it could be in such a position that it is almost like looking down a straw. So, since I am going to have to have new scans every two months we are just going to have to keep and eye on it and see what it does, if anything.
The unpleasant part of this is that this weekend I have to start taking Decadron (a steroid to prevent brain swelling, which also means weight gain as well as hot flashes) as well as an anti-seizure medication in case the Decadron does not control the swelling.
I am doing much better knowing that things are now moving again to address this issue. But now i have to make a decision on what music to take with me (they will pipe any CD's I want to listen to into the room - cool)
So, things are on the move again and I feel good that I am now moving in the direction to kill this bugger in my brain.
