Hey guys this is kind of embarrassing for me so forgive me. This is a condition that i've had since i was a youngster (i'm only 22 now) and now it's starting to be a problem in my life. I have a problem getting and maintaing an erection. I can manage to just get hard enough to masterbate but never hard enough to achieve any type of penetration. i've just got into a new relationship and sex is made that much worse because i cant get an erection, guys have any advice as to what this could be? I'm pretty sure it's not nerves cause i have the same problem when i'm alone. thanks for any advice guys.

guys of any age can get erectile dysfunction... it might not be a bad idea to get yourself checked for diabetes or heart problems

A doctor's visit is in order. Sex is physical and mental. You'll want to rule out as much as possible with some simple blood work and then proceed from there. Good luck to you.

Go to your general practiotner and ask for a refferal to a Urologist this is a specialist doctor who only works and specialises in the Genital/vaginal area
at 22 and after reading your post i think that it must be some sort of physilogical
problem eg semi-blocked venious or blood sac you have one either side of your penis.
Am not trying to get nyour hopes up but at your age it is usualy a physical problem that may require some surgery which has an 89% total success rate and always some sort of improvement in the remaining 12%.
Good luck and dont be embaressed at the docs and answer his questions with the 100% truth.Wishing you all the best. Adam MB CHrP

thanks for the post guys, i didnt think it could be any as serious as diabetes or a heart condition. will get checked out for sure. Sure do hope this is something that can be fixed with a pill and not surgery

Even though ED medications will help with your problem, your doctor will want to rule out underlying conditions such as low testosterone, low thyroid, diabetes, etc.

It's always better to treat the cause instead of just treating the symptom.

could anything of these things could lead to more serious things besides just the ED problem?

Karabulut as usual has gave excellent advice, the reason i ruled out diabetes is because in your post you said that you have had this problem since you were a youngster and diabetes would have been diagnosed a long time ago.
Also i ruled out testrone levels because you did not mention in your post that your genitalia did not look right for a 22yr old guy.
What you have to remember we are only offering ideas not a diagnosis for that you will need to see a dr in person and get a full mark up (bloods)and maybe some further tests try not to get to worried as it could be something that could be treated quite easily.
Though to put your mind at ease i would recommend that you see your primary care giver sooner rather than later take care and good luck on the exams.

thanks to all you guys, you guys are great. I'll be making an appointment first thing in the morning.

Yes they can. If not treated both can lead to very serious health issues. Heart disease can very easily (and most often does) lead to death. Diabetes can lead to stroke, poor blood circulation which leads to loss of limbs, and eventually death if not treated.

Not trying to scare you, but you did ask.

Yep, see a doctor. High cholesterol, heart problem, circulatory problems, psychological issues, a combination of these, or something entirely different, could be behind this. Also, there is a natural variation in penis erection strength, size, etc. between different men. Erections aren't the be-all and end-all of sex either, especially if you're in the 'bottom' role.

well i know they arent all the same and everyone is different but barely being able to get a hard on to jerk off, i dont think thats normal, i could be wrong tho. but i do intend on going to see a doctor.
