I can't get onto MSN, when I try to sign in it says there is a problem and when I troubleshoot it suggests something different every time. I have recently downloaded the AVG anti-virus thingy so I was thinking it might be that? I'm probably wrong though. If you can help but need more info just ask :D

Oh, it says there might be a problem with my internet connection but I know it is fine so I was thinking AVG was stopping it access the internet. Is that even possible?

is this MSN messenger? AVG 8 has a web blocking feature, but i thought that was only on the paid version. do you have the free version or the paid version?

AVG 8.5 free version
Windows Live Messenger 2009 version
It might be something else...

When I troubleshoot it blames it on the key ports and says there might be something wrong with firewall or internet setting or something like that. That is why I thought it might be AVG.

This might sound ridiculous but.......is the clock correctly set on your computer?
I nearly went nuts once because it wouldn't connect........until I noticed the clock was displaying the wrong time....... ](*,)

It says...

'Failed to connect to the service. This could be due to improper
proxy or firewall settings. Please review your proxy and firewall
settings. Proxy setting can be accessed through Windows
Live Messenger Options. For Firewall setting, please see the
retailer's instructions.'

I don't know what my firewall is :(

I actually hate computers... turning it off fixes all problems ](*,)](*,)

At least it works now.

Thanks people.

Don't you HATE when that happens?
Just starts working and you don't know WHY? :grrr::grrr::grrr::grrr:

It could be because Internet Explorer is in Offline Mode. To fix it, open IE and if it fails to load your homepage, then go to File and click Work Offline to disable it.
