It's understandable that you feel bad. You were one of the last people to see him alive. It's not selfish to feel sad when someone dies, if you didn't feel sad that someone you were just with died, then I think there would be a problem.

I felt the same way back in December, though I wasn't there, one of my classmates from grade 11 was a victim in a triple murder/suicide in central Canada. I was outraged more than sad, he was a nice guy. I felt sad for his brother, who I'd known for years and was also a nice guy.

Bottom line is, it's OK to feel sad in your situation, I can't imagine being in a situation like that and I hope I never have to be! :)

Alcohol induced death are way more frequent than young people ever consider alas :(

Don't be too hard on you, it's not necessarily easy in a middle of a party to know if a passed out drunk is just drunk or in alcoholic shock.

May he rest in peace and my thoughts to his family and friends. All deaths are tragic for those that remain.

I know what you're feeling - I've been there.

This traumatic event will effect you in ways you don't yet understand.

I strongly recommend you seek out a therapist to work through this before it begins to eat at you.

That's horrible,

Not sure anyone would not feel bad about that.

Wow. that is shocking and you have every right to feel as you do. Don't surpress it, roll with it. Soon it will pass.

You mean to say how fortunate. There are 1 million and 1 worse ways to die than that.

FORTUNATE? I think you need to re-examine some attitudes; You certainly need to review how you express them publicly with people unknown to you. I thought you comment grossly insensitive.

It's a tragic thing to have witnessed, but take something from the experience. This young man either drank sufficient alcohol or took a drug that likely made him choke on his own vomit and die.

That doesn't sound like much of a good time. Everything in moderation.
