Yesterday I went to Williams and Sonoma and purchased a new Capresso Coffee Maker. I made my coffee this morning and was very dissapointed, the coffee was just warm not hot.:grrr:

I called them and they claim that the coffee brews at 180 degrees, but since I purchased the Stainless model with carafe, that by the time it fills the pot the coffee is 160 degrees. But I made another pot and it was 144 degrees. I then went to 7-Eleven and tested their pot at 200 degrees and asked Starbucks tonite and they claim their coffee is 200 degrees also.

Anyone else have one of these machines? Is you coffee just warm vs hot.

I will return it tomorrow morning.

There are 2 Espresso stands on the hospital campus, both make the coffee, 180 degrees. Then with the added flavors and such, it is warm! Kinda disappointing!! I like my coffee hot!!

I use this to make my espresso. some times the old ways are better

I have a capresso and it is the best machine I have ever owned. I couldn't tell you what the tempature is but it is hot. In addition Williams sanoma stands behind their products better than any company I have ever known. I would suggest you don't give up on the capresso. I have had mine 5 years, last year it developed a leak somewhere and they replaced it for a new one.

Thank you, I will see what they say. I just want a machine that makes good coffee, and this is not an espresso machine, but an MT 500. model 441

The stovetop ones will never disappoint you and you can foam your milk easily with a whisk.

Every home machine I ever tried goes from mediocre to worse...

coffee shouldent be boiling hot over 80C i think or it burns the beans causing a bitter taste

Do you guys have those pod machines state side?

My workplace has been taken over by one coffee company with them...

The coffee is actually quite good, and a shit load cheaper then the crap they sell at the cafe...

I thought of getting one for home but the stove top model really cant be beat (and the last thing I need is another gadget)

Page 8 of the Capresso MT500 manual says that the coffee in the carafe should be between 178 and 185 degrees Fahrenheit, immediately after brewing. After 4 hours, the coffee in the carafe should drop to between 155 and 165 degrees.:

Espresso, evidently, is brewed at a higher temperature (about 200 degrees Fahrenheit), since the process involves forcing steam through the grounds under pressure).

So this one must be defective, I tested the coffee just when it stopped brewing and it was 144 degrees F. I had pre-heated the pot before brewing also. I also make a half a pot a lot and the temperature will decrease another 10 degrees they claimed.

I also want to know why they put these clocks in coffee makers. I would never put fresh ground coffee in a pot the night before to brew.

I agree with 3nipples & PreTTy PeTe. A good stovetop coffee maker will never disappoint you. You can go from the Bialetti espresso coffee maker to the more expensive Alessi 9090 among many good alternatives in the US.

do starbucks have pots of coffee over there?

Drink orange juice, it´s healthier and even cheaper, wherever you are.

here's the recipe

put water in the kettle and turn the stove on.

when it whistles you will have boiled water.

great success. happy times.

It's probably still too complicated. After all, some people are much too important to make their own coffee!!!

Well I brought it back, the manager at Williams and Sonoma took it and showed me others. She also had a stockboy make a pot and agreed it was just warm. She recommended a Cuisinart. I am having another morning with just warm coffee. So she will see me again this moring. Isn't this fun?](*,) ](*,)
