Capsule Hotel in Tokyo

If you are talking to me, the answer is, "No, I am not any capsule hotel anywhere."

Now my question to you is: Do you ever write anything that makes sense?

I know there was an error in the 1st post.
Deal with it or go and eat doo doo ...

Looks quite comfy to me.
Are you any capsule hotel in the west ?

Many airports in Europe have one, and a few big pricey cities have them too. They are called Pods there.

Personally I see them as the missing link between hotel and youth hostel: none of the comforts of the hotel and none of the camaraderie of the hostel.

Surely we can make them even more efficient:

I'm surprised some of you never heard of capsule hotels, when there have been hundreds of articles and videos since the 90s about them.

Ive stayed in plenty of bad hostels, sleeping 25 to a room in bunk beds. The capsule, while probably odd at first, is most likely preferable to a lot of them. Certainly more private.

I love hostels, stay at them a lot, and outside the big cities and the high season, I usually find myself sleeping all alone (if I travel alone) in a room with four to eight beds. My record is one hostel on the beach of a sunny island where I was the only guest for two consecutive nights.

And sharing a room can be nice if the people are nice. A few years ago they put me in a 14-bed dorm with 12 boys who were only 13 years old and in that small town for a swimming competition. They were friendly and polite, and wanted a good sleep as much as me. It's usually the men d'un certain âge who are inconsiderate of their fellow human beings. The ones who are not used to sharing a room with strangers.

It can be nice, Ive just lived in one in Amsterdam for a while whilst looking for a place to live and it became a bit of a hell at times due to the complete lack of private space. My view since then has soured a little. I was lucky to get on well with the staff, so they put me in rooms with no else quite a lot, but I still have done nights on end with loads of people and not found it easy.

still I stay in them when I have to, I just find it a bit odd sleeping in rooms with multiple people wandering around at random times.

I would have to pass...claustrophobia would rear it's head the minute the door was closed. It looks like the machine at the hospital that I hate.

It's a wonder they've not featured in a porno yet.

Particularly with all those obnoxious glaring lights in the background.

The guy on the right does have an impressive stack of cumrags, though.

A friend of mine stayed in one for a night just for fun while visiting Tokyo. He also stated at the "Lost in Translation" hotel (the Hyatt, I believe), the Aman, and a ryokan, a traditional inn. He didn't mind moving around and had a great time contrasting and comparing the experiences. Said the capsule hotel was good for one night, glad he did it once, but not eager to do it again.

They remind me of what I have seen animals kept in when at the veterinarians. I have seen movies where passengers on trains were
in sleeping cars and had little room.
I find them practical.

Practical if you have an overnight stay while traveling.

Western hotels are very expensive. Question: - can two fit in a capsule? Just for "visits" (if you catch my meaning).

In Europe, many hotels have single rooms 5 feet wide or so, but they manage to squeeze in a private bath, and can be quite comfortable.

I'd stay in one so long as I had my laptop with me. So long as the bed is comfy and the thing is clean, I have similar views to being alone in a small space as a typical cat.
