Any fans of Captain and Tennile? I used to listen to them a lot in the 70'sWacthed there varity show. I thought there were not married,but mabe for a short time.

I wore that 8 track out. I also hated that the track changing would happen in the middle of a song. I liked Tennile, she was spunky, but the Captain kind of freaked me out (still does) I must add I was 7 or 8.

Sorry, I always thought Captain and Tennille were just a "B" version of the classier, much more successful Carpenters.

They are and were great. I like all of those song especially Love Will Keep Us Together. One of the ultimate feel-good songs. The Carpenters were fine but their songs depress the hell out of me.

Comparing the Carpenters to C&T is apples'n'oranges, as far as I'm concerned. The Carpenters always had a rather melancholy edge to their songs, even when singing such happy lightweight fare as "Sing" and "Top of the World". C&T were more unabashedly happy. I can't imagine the Carpenters bringing the same sense of "fun" to Neil Sedaka's "Love Will Keep Us Together", and I can't really picture Toni sounding as wistful as Karen on "Superstar". They both were very good at what they did, though.

geeze, this brings back memories -- they were pretty neat - didn't the Captain have chest hair popping out of his collar ?? I thouht he was pretty handsome.
and there's not competition on the planet for Karen Carpenter - Her voice came from the angels and listening to her can still make me cry.

Love both Carpenters and C&T but given the choice Carpenters will always be TOPS
