Captain escapes, pirates dead

Seems Ron Paul sees the UN like I thought Libertarians did.

In an ideal, purely libertarian world, there wouldn't be a U.N. -- Paul's right on that.

But one can also view existing institutions from a libertarian perspective, viewing them under the light of contractual responsibilities. On that level, the U.N. is a shambles; it is filled with the hypocrisy of playing noble games with the participation of ignoble players. That, too, brings the matter to Paul's conclusion: if the U.N. is a farce, then our support for it is an error. Yet if we insist on remaining with it, we ought to insist that it behave according to its own rules.

Were I president, I'd tell the U.N. they have one year to clean house: admonishment to borderline nations, suspension of those who merely fail to uphold human rights, and dismissal of those which deny human rights as a matter of policy -- and failure would mean the U.S. stops paying dues.
