My fellow and lady JUBbers, did any of you walk back and forth to work today in redognition of International Walk to Work Day?

Second, are any of you conversant about your
carbon footprint or really pissed off that I
have the unmitigated gall to even bring the subject up?

There is a web site you can link to to calculate your carbon footprint, so you might want some good information about your driving habits, your fuel use habits, the plans you make for traveling, especially over long distances. This is the llink. I tried it and it works.
http://www.safeclimate.net/calculator. Will you share this
because around the world it will be different?

Finally, I salute our Aussie buddies, both guys and gals, for SDS and it's promotion of "Wedgie Power." I hope you are free to laugh at your stateside friends who will fall over this one. It should make for an interesting end of International Walk to Work Day. Be gentle and fun loving with one another.
Shep+ (Yes, I will share my calculated carbon footprint, but I do not want a skewed competition, but an honest recognition of what is happening.)

I actually walk to work every day, except on days when it's snowing or something. Oddly, though, I had the day off today, and did quite a bit of driving.

In UK, labels on food packaging are starting to show the carbon footprint of food products. So soon you'll be busy reading about nutritional value and carbon footprint for every food product you buy.

What a great concept but it's just that. It's wonderful for those who live thisclose to where they work.
It wouldn't work for me. The nearest civilization is roughly 20 minutes away. To even get a gallon of milk is 5 minute car trip one way.
We do our part, as much as we can. Sometimes these campaigns just don't translate well to the real world application.

I walk to work every day, but I agree with 2gayguys about it not being practical for a lot of people.

I would to work

but I stand on my ass for 12 hours

I wouldn't want to walk home

I'm proud to say I put just over 100 miles on the car yesterday. That car is 5 years old, and will pass 100,000 miles this month.

I ran all over town fixing issues and making people's lives easier.

Well I just scraped myself off the carpet.
We two average 714 pounds of carbon each month.
I feel like I should appologize. My partner will be
thrilled to find out how this worked out. This winter
we may be in bed a lot and the thermostat set at
55 degrees fahrenheit.
