I take a lot of time choosing cards too. I'm always told I pick the best cards. I look for what fits the person and whether it's suitable to be from me. There are so many to choose from, it just takes time to find what's appropriate.

If I get a card with writing in it, which is always an IF, I spend a lot of time looking for the right one. It's especially difficult on Mother's Day, trying to find a card that expresses my relationship with my mother. Hallmark doesn't make cards that say "Thanks for not having an abortion" or "My therapist is so lucky you're my Mom!" Father's Day isn't any easier, since my relationship with Daddy, though cordial, is by no means traditional. Grandmother is the easiest to buy cards for, I just find the biggest one with the sappiest poem (if it makes me gag, it's a winner) and the most glitter on it.

I frequently give picture cards that are blank inside and just write "Happy Birthday" or "Get Well" or whatever inside. I also have a shoebox full of cards I've bought that I liked but didn't have a person to give it to just yet. I can never find that box when a card occasion comes up, though.

I bought a whole box of one birthday card that I loved (it's a cutout picture of a big pickle, and on the inside it says "I bet you never expected to get a paper pickle on your birthday"), and try to remember who I gave that card to last time so that I don't repeat myself.

Don't you just love greeting cards?

Do I/We ever!!! lol

Both Ron and I are the worst.......for we both search high and low for just the right card for each and every person we send one to....

I hope the ones we receive are just as well searched to get for us!!!

When I find the one that suits my purpose, I am so happy and pleased with myself for find just the right "saying".........and the front does NOT have to be as good as the sayings inside the card, it's just me!! ha ha

Just like Hallmark says, sorta like anyway, "It pays to send the very best"!
I know that's NOT the exact phrase; but you get the right idea that I had/have in mind, right?(*8*) (*8*)

I do try to find a card I think the person would appreciate.

But I also keep a stock of somewhat generic cards on hand, in case I'm invited to a birthday party for someone I don't know very well, or need to send a thank you card in a hurry.

For years I've been telling myself to kick the card habit and start sending short letters to people instead. But I need to get the right personalized stationery first. Which means I need to decide I'm not moving anytime soon. Which means... It's all very complicated. :(

I am a card carrying Hallmark Gold Crown member! I love getting cards for people. The special people in my life get the thought out card that fits the situation...the not so close people may get the .99 cent card still from Hallmark, but with no sentiment. I spend time when searching for a card. I do like the funnier cards over the real serious ones. I think real serious cards are saying something that the giver may be too afraid to say out loud...

LOL, that's me exactly! Some family members get the cheapest crap that says, "Here, I had to do this because you're family" while others get a card that makes them crack up with laughter.

lately, I've been using photographs that I've taken myself as the cover, and writing something personal or funny inside. I have, on special occasions, used Photoshop or Illustrator to create a really special card.

If only I were a designer...

I usually spend time choosing the right card for the person but I hate these ones with the really sloppy messages in them. I prefer something straight forward and to the point. I like the Forever Friends cards for that reason. Obviously it's different if it's a humourous card.

I have a girl friend that picks them out for me. She's very creative at it. I'm not.
