  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Careful if you shave "down there"

for me i love being smooth and i use a beard shaver. i like a guy smooth or unshaved as long as he doesn't have that 'nappy' pubic hair

I think you should count your blessings if a bit of matted pubic hair is the only surprise you find in a guy's nappy.

Have you been cruising Shady Pines?

I shave my entire body when I feel like it. I get smooth ass a babies ass lol. But that's just a figure of speech. I like it because it makes me feel like an alien. It makes me feel sexy. A sexy alien. And the ones I get naked with love it.

that article does not state an evolutionary purpose for a patch of hair there (to my knowledge, there is none - its just not harmful so it never got selected against either).
what it does say is that ripping hair out, or scraping sharp metal against the skin, can damage the skin - shocker. but if done right, it wont. electric trimmers btw, dont cut the skin, they cut just above it ;)
but i shave my balls and never had problems.

the reason they shave areas for surgery is because you cannot sterilize hair chemically - too many cracks and folds in the structure. so if some hair gets in the wound that will result in infection. so any site is shaved prior to incision. including the pubic area such as for a Cesarian in women.

It most certainly does give one:

Pubic hair does have a purpose, providing cushion against friction that can cause skin abrasion and injury, protection from bacteria and other unwanted pathogens...

I learned early on not to shave even my legs, at least on the inside, if I was going hiking with bare legs -- the hair gives protection.

Actually they can sterilize hair, it just doesn't leave it resembling hair too much (we studied this in chemistry [yes, I had an eccentric chemistry professor]) -- it ends up extremely dry and brittle, which brings its own problems for healing wounds. It's not exceptionally helpful to the skin, either.

Oh boy, another pube-shaving thread! This is almost as good as the cut/uncut threads!
