Thank-you. However, I don't recall saying Hillary Clinton ran with about the same level of "experience" as Caroline Kennedy. I recall saying above that Clinton had no "governing" or "legislative" experience when she ran and that she was barely a New Yorker. This isn't disrespectful, it is reality.
That's why I started my post with, "Many who've run for Congress are new to elected office, and even some with no experience who're appointed to fill a vacated seat do fine." The first part of that sentence was about Hillary and the second about Caroline, in the context of what you say above.
I also stated my opinion that it was the Clinton name that got her elected and I also stated that all of that was fine as she was elected not appointed.
I know you did, and you're wrong that the Clinton name got her elected. It got her a foot in the door but she spent many months traveling around New York state on a "listening tour," learning about the state and its needs and coming up with ideas for addressing those needs, which she presented to the people of New York in many appearances, speeches and debates. Also the Clinton name was used against her as much as it worked in her favor.
You also said, "Seems Hillary benefitted and Caroline is benefitiing from a famous relative in politics more than any real qualifications of their own," which, as I've pointed out, is not a fair characterization since Hillary had many years of professional and public service and campaigning as qualification before becoming Senator that far outweighs what Caroline has.
I find your "judgment" that CK's life was easy, off of a silver, especially considering her father was murdered in front of a live audience, her uncle was shot dead, mother dead from cancer and her brother crashed in the ocean, to be presumptuous. You don't know her or her struggles.
Everybody struggles. That's part of the human condition, personal challenges. Some go through personal struggles while also having to work to put food on the table, some personally struggle while also fighting for causes bigger than themselves, some personally struggle on a trust fund. As I said, there's nothing shameful about struggling while living a pampered life on Park Avenue, and personal struggles are just as difficult in a penthouse as in a studio walk-up. But it's also true that living in great privilege, both financially and off the golden glow of celebrated adored parents, makes for a life experience very different from people without those privileges. You're wong in assuming I don't know about that. I think John Jr and Caroline Kennedy dealt with their personal struggles excellently well, with integrity and grace, but it's not presumptuous to notice the other elements of their lives.
