Cat Stealing Souls at Nursing Home

Actually, it is quite a long history of people believing that animals have a "second sight" for death.

The old chestnut about dogs who bark at open windows, when there is no one there... Superstition says they're trying to scare off the angel of death.

So, I wouldn't be surprised...

However, who knows...Maybe when I die, I'll come back as a cat and try to warn people too.

I can always spot a fellow health care worker... (*8*)

LOL.....i'm that obvious eh? :D actually, last week, i almost picked another patient to take care of (aside from the one i was assigned) because he was on his deathbed at the Med/Surg floor, and i was concerned that he didnt have anyone there. good thing his family showed up, i even spoke to his mother briefly.

This news again today.
Oscar is the current animal who does this remarkable feat.
He senses the most seriously ill and singles them out for care.
He is a compassionate cat.
Other cats and dogs have demonstrated this remarkable
ability over the years.Shep+

Shep's right. Five or six years ago there was another cat on the news who did the same thing at another facility. His accuracy was supposedly uncanny. I actually thought it must be the same cat until they mentioned in the article that this one is only about two years old.

And I too immediately thought of the old myth of the cat stealing your breath/soul at night and killing you.

Truly an amazing story!

See why it's important to have animals around a nursing home/hospice so that the animals can help make the scene nice for the patients?

I don't think any of the patients dreaded to have Oscar come visit them, knowing it was due to the Angel of Death visiting them........soon!

We ALL know we MUST die at some point in time.....(*8*)(*8*):kiss:

i think saying that the cat is "stealing souls" is really a shitty outlook on it.

they should be saying that the cat is sensing/smelling that death is near, and it is going to keep them company in their final hours....so they dont have to die alone.

i have had many pets, and they all cared for eachother. one cat had cancer and was slowly circling the drain, and the other cat took over bathing it to keep it clean and care for it, sleeping next to it for warmth and just being there.

way to go kitty.

M.........

Really nothing to fear.

If you think about it...........AND not figuring in the whole religious debate......

We should accept the inevitable peacefulness of moving to a new, higher dimension of being where I think there's NO pain and definitely NO class system where people hate you for being Gay or anything different...

We've always been taught this "boogery feeling" about death where some beings eat your soul(s) or some other horrible thing happens to us where we do NOT live ALL eternity in peace.

I accept death as a release from the body as we know it today!

Try meditation, for it truly works!(*8*)(*8*):kiss:

There are a lot of explainable things in this world that you just can't help but start to believe its real even without proofs.

I am very open minded and I do think that cat has a very special gift. Either it can sense the person is dying or it can see things the human eye cannot see.
I also do believe animals are able to see things we cannot see.

Infact, if I tell you here that I can often see the dead.. everyone is going to think I'm crazy.

but back to topic.. maybe the cat is stealing souls, who knows. Or it could be that it can smell or sense someone dying and was there just to cuddle and say goodbye in a nice way.
