Chad Noel, gay porn performer and Laramie, Wyoming, native, died this month following an illness related to HIV complications. He was 25.

Performing, sometimes bareback, under the names Donny Price, Kyle Young, and Craven Cox, Noel became a well-known industry figure for having co-starred in 2004's (the since-recalled) Every Poolboy’s Dream, from Cobra Video, where he had sex with a then-underage Brent Corrigan, who testified in the murder trial of Cobra's Bryan Kocis, whose killing stemmed from a studio power play involving Corrigan. It was Noel's Poolboy that had Michael Lucas raging against Corrigan and the gay porn industry.

Correction: Allegedly underage Brent Corrigan. This was never confirmed publicly, since Corrigan refused to produce a birth certificate. Personally I think he lied to try to suppress his early bareback work.

The important thing here is that an otherwise healthy young man died of HIV complications at 25. HIV infections are on the rise again and even though treatment is a lot better than in times past, HIV still kills. Those who didn't live through the 80's and 90's don't seem to realize the risks they take barebacking.

I know sites like Chaos Men and CorbinFisher (on the ACS side) use home HIV tests on their models before a scene, but it is still very risky behavior. I worry about these guys.

Wow, I didn't see this thread before.

That is just fucking perverse, to lose your life at such a young age. Especially when it could have been prevented.

Do we have to see a resurgence of the level of death that occurred in the 80's and 90's before people begin to value themselves enough to esteem their health more important than money or pleasure? What needs to happen to make people see that the AIDS crisis is not over, that it is not "easy" just because of the advances in medicine, and that it can happen to anyone--young or old, rich or poor, any sexual orientation, any gender, "ugly" or "pretty" . . . I just want to smack the people who say, "Oh, but it'll never happen to me . . . "

And yet these soulless companies like Cobra and Treasure Island Media continue to produce videos celebrating/fetishising lethal (raw) sex that continues to kill folks.
In the late 80s and 90s, bareback sex was almost taboo in gay porn. Now it's a trendy commodity, with companies attempting to harken back to 1978...

In theory, then, Chad Noel wouldn't have been able to work for Chaos Men or Corbin Fisher, because he was HIV positive. Does that mean that whatever studio(s) he did bareback scenes for either didn't test or didn't care that he might have been infecting his scene partners?
