A friend brought up some issues that were unexplored so far. I could do it as an epilogue to this story or start a new one with Tom and Heiko back in Alameda and bring in some other ideas.

One of the unexplored issues has to do with Jerry and Neil - remember them? - the straight guys whose lives had become entangled. Can you love somebody with passion but no sex? Maybe that one isn't worth exploring. If you have been reading my stories this far, you probably know what my answer would be.

Thoughts? Preferences?

Can you love someone, deeply, yes. That might be slightly different than Passionately. Passion can run super hot then burn out. A DEEP love can be like a well stoked stove - generating a perhaps gentler heat for a long time, an inner glow.

You know we'd like to hear more from the guys - and I'd like to catch up in more detail with the boys back home in Alameda.

No pressure, though.

Rory, I'm going to read anything that you write, and enjoy it.

Hope to read more soon!

I went back to check a few facts in "Eric's Story", an earlier part of this one, to see if I wanted to tack a couple of chapters into "Change" on or start a new one and I have to say I was pretty pleased with a couple of passages. So ....

[Guilty, mortifying admission follows; the squeamish should stop reading here.]

... I rated my own thread five stars. And I was apparently the deciding vote. The old thread now has five stars, but I have to confess to the fraud. !oops!

Rory,
As far as I'm concerned, you're entitled to a vote, too.
And, you just made it the 10 ratings you needed to have the 5* visible.

Mah. . . Whatever

Did you feel that you put in a five star effort. Rory? If you did, fine. If not- Then you gonna burn, baby, burn- And I'm not talkin' 'bout no disco inferno here (or wait... never mind ;))

It, like all of your work, certainly deserves five stars.

However, it's nice to see that someone still has some scruples, though. I thought that they had gone out of fashion, in this year of our lord, 2012.

So. . . When is the new story coming, Rory?

I'm trying to work out some story lines for Alameda - some old characters and some new. Not there yet ...

We'll let you take your time - just not too much of it, lol.

OK, for those interested. The new one is called "Four Miles and Counting." Hope you like it.

Already exciting, Rory. Just getting started on this an already hooked just like the last several you wrote. I ran across another one of yours while in search of this one - something about Hanes. Can't wait to read that one after I tackle this one unless there is another sequel to this one. Great writing.

Hanes precedes Counrty Cousins - a lot of the same characters. I find ones I like and I can't give them up.

And some of us don't want you to. I still miss some of the old gang.

I know what you mean about your characters. They are so rich, you fall in love with them, and you never want them to go away. This is awesome. You are so talented.

Hey Rory. I loved this story just as much as your earlier stories. Such a wonderful cast of characters, so varied in age, experience and motivation. There was warmth, hope, humour, sadness and love. Totally satisfying.

It's so clever how you made me as a reader care about the characters. I wanted everything to work out well for them. I really felt their ups and downs, their trials and successes. And, as I've commented before, you have such a brilliant way with words. I often have to stop and re-read a sentence or a phrase, just because it's so perfectly written.

I went straight on to Four Miles and Counting, which I've just finished. I'll leave some comments there too.

Cheers, HF

Nice words. I wish I could keep writing but something always gets in the way. :(

Rory, great to hear from you. Very glad to see you're still poking around the site.

I've read Hanes, Country Cousins and Speedway, too. I've been meaning to post comments on them but I've been too slack. Your reply above serves as a little nudge, and I'll comment in the next few days and push them to top of the list. Where hopefully new readers might try them.

I've read most of Fauquier now. I'm gonna feel bereft when I get to the end of it and there's no more of your writing to entertain me! Seriously, you've given me hours of pleasure. I hope the things in your real life that are getting in the way of your writing are all positive things.

All the best, mate.
HF
