Well after a realization that I'm all alone (socially and romantically), still living at home and unemployed (and after a sobbing session, which hasn't happened since my grandmother died) I decided to pull myself together and get my life in order. Here's my plan:
1. Move out- Some of you heard me whining about this awhile ago. It's time to move out of my parents place. Most people I know are living on their own and I really hate living all the way up here in the isolated suburbs. I'm in my element in the city and many people around my age live in Chicago anyhow.
2. Get a job- Again I know we're in a recession but I know there are actually jobs out there. I can be picky about what type of job I work at but I need money to pay for rent and my last year at college. Somehow, I've managed to stay out of debt so far and plan to keep it that way.
3. Be more open about myself- I came out to myself in high school and then I came out to my sister last year but she already knew. Which I'm not surprised. People can kind of tell if they hang around me long enough. People can tell and are more perceptive than we give them credit for.
I don't really need to come out per se but I will let them no if they bring it up. For instance, some guy in one of my classes asked if I had a girlfriend. I looked at him like he was crazy and said "no" without thinking.
Actions speak louder than words. Anyone who doubts this and thinks I'm going through a phase should meet my boyfriend. Which brings me to action step #4
4. Start dating. I don't want to be like Steve Carell's character in the 40 year old virgin and I'm tired of being alone. I need to start doing things that put me into contact with more people on a regular basis. I say this to people all the time here but now it's time to take my own advice. Go out to cafes, join a club, a gym or something.
All of these things are intertwined and I know I can most likely solve these problems by solving one of them (financial situation?). Anyway, I'm determined to change my life for the better and it's about time. Updates about my progress coming soon.

It's a very ambitious plan, so there will certainly be weeks with slow progress or setbacks. Don't let that get you down. Always look at the big picture, and see progress from the big picture.
