I do it all the time, and it's so much fun. I've made more friends that way than hookups (not my style). The eye contact and the smile on the follow up is the best part. Good comparison. If you're not looking, you'll never find it. The problem is being desperate, which isn't looking but is more like -- to use a homey comparison from the Oregon Coast -- frantically raking at the bottom in hopes of finding a clam instead of patiently watching for the signs that they're there.
