Does chewing gum make you hungrier or does it have the opposite effect?

I think it does since it uses the jaw muscles like chewing food - and that with the flavour, makes your body think it's going to get food.

That's why I don't chew gum, because I usually end up swallowing it, because I forget it's gum.

Well if you chew gum, it does make your body think it's going to eat, this means an increase in the volume of acid produced by your stomach and hence the increase in the amount of damage done to your intestinal lining.

I thought chewing gum was supposed to curve your appetite?

When my appetite is curved, I usually go for a banana.

well I like chewing, but yeah it makes me very hungry... LOL

Who said it did either or? I think people chew gum to stop snacking so much. I use it that way. I'm still hungry but the mint flavor makes me not wanna eat something like chips. Just ruins the taste.

That is a really good idea, I had never thought about doing that

If I'm hungry and not around someplace to get something to eat I'll chew gum and it'll take my mind off of wanting something to eat.
It does make me want to get a drink though.

I've been told It can both aid weight loss and cause an excess of stomach acid.

Personally I swear by it at raves. Heheh...
