The guy headed the transportation authority. What does he know about education? He is a Daley loyalist and his primary job will probably be to steer patronage jobs and contracts to Daley supporters.

I would prefer to see someone st8 and competent to head a school district.

RH is definitely family just not out loud and proud. He did have a long standing relationship with a CNN reporter, I believe their relationship ended when CNN promoted the bf to Atlanta and RH chose to stay here in Chicago.

I worked with RH at Police HQ several years ago and through his movement in cty government that is how I know many of the details of his career and to a degree his personal life. I don't care for him personally and I believe that he is the embodiment of the "Peter Principle."

He is very good at giving orders, threatening and from time to time firing people in order to throw his weight around. There is obviously a level of competence and academic credential to him. Although, if you look into his academic background you will find that undergrad and graduate degree's were conferred by universities where his father taught and/or teaches. His father is definitely the man that has opened doors.

Having worked with him and not for him I try to present just my opinion with respect to RH. My personal suspicion is that this is a temporary move for him while a search for someone much more educationally oriented is undertaken. Given the current economy nationally and here he will most likely go after jobs and programs that he considers unnecessary in the school system.

He did a lot for CTA in the short time he was there. The Blue Line alone was barely functional and it's now in perfect running order. Many of the el stops were cleaned up with new lighting and paint at the very least. Buses are more reliable, also.

he has officially outed himself in a sat suntimes article, i think i remember reading a comment where people saw him at sidetrack or something. it was kind of nice.

Family? Do you consider people with the same shoe size as you family as well? When will gay men stop equating sexual orientation as some kind of highest common denominator warranting the term "family". It would be nice if non-stereotypical gays could just be themselves without this "community" or "family" trying to indoctrinate them into the cult of gay.
