Childhood panics

i dunno...i forgot what we were talking about. i think it was something about childhood and how often you pooped.

I had a kind of phenomenological fear - great deepths, great heights - a kind of primeval aero-subterranean-agrophobia.

Nah, it wasn't a fear of heights, i didn't mind that - it was like looking up into the sky on a clear sunny day and seeing it getting more and more dark blue - then just having a sense oh how tiny i was in this huge galaxy.

I was afraid of the dark, but mainly because almost anything scared me as a kid. Vampires, "Draculas", and other mosnters. Hell, even Unsolved Mysteries scared me. I remember they showed a cheesy reenactment of an old man who went missing possibly having a heart attack, falling on a river and literally "rolling" away. I wouldn't og near the shower ebcause the music was scary and water was associated with ti.

But really, one of the things that scared me was loud noises. The toilet flushing and the shower/bathtub faucet was so loud so I'd almost hem and haw when I should have been showering for up to an hour or more just because I didn't want to turn on the faucet and hear the thunderous sound of water shooting out of the spout. I used to ask my mom to sit there as I turned on the faucet.

Loud noises still make me jittery, though thankfully normal home toilet flushers doesn't scare me unless it's one of those super loud ones in various buildings.

When I'm back home, I still set the pin out ont he shower so that the water automatically goes through the showerhead instead of shooting out of the faucet.

Tornados scared me as a kid. Everyone got so excited and we often had to go to a neighbor's house until the tornado warning was over.

If my parents were nervous then I was really nervous.

and not the ET kind ;)

that was a part of my fear - My uncle gave me this book called 'Mysteries of the Universe' and there was an picture of an old fashioned airoplane in the sky with this huge UFO flying above it - FREAKED ME RIGHT OUT!
