You have a point about the bashing of CC because of his fem ways. However if you read my posts here again, you will notice that I say several times that my issues are not with his being overly fem or queeny, but with the words that are coming out of his mouth. I could care less if he wants to wear a dress and makeup and flaunt around like a fairy. Not my decision to make and I don't judge him for it. I'm a big believer in being who you want to be.

If CC was just running around Youtube acting like a fool over Britney I would have just ignored this entire hoopla. What got my attention were the videos where he is spouting nonsense about YOUR community and women in general which isn't helping break any stereotypes at all. Whether or not he's a big buff atheletic gay or a queeny gay is not of my concern and I would dislike him just as much either way.

I only point this out because you made reference to my post in particular. Just so you understand my point of view. He can act however he wants, and he can talk about Britney all he wants. But when he's bringing up issues that we face as minorities and making light of them, that's where I take offense.

That's what I've been trying to say since day one.

The only pansy thing is blaming one's situation on another who has absolutely nothing to do with it. Feel prejudiced against? Go straight to those who harbor that prejudice. Feel misrepresented? But why is anyone obliged to represent you or, for that matter, to represent you as you like yourself to be represented?

True, and I agree...but it does start to make me think about things when I see one entertainment/mass media product after another feature the same "personalities" and "characters" and "images" when it comes to gay men.
I don't expect to be represented by anyone, the only person who can represent me is me. And by representation, I simply mean showing the wide range of different people and groups out there within our community. I'm not saying it has to represent me or a particular group because all we want is to see ourselves in someone or something else, but to simply celebrate the diversity and show that to the world.
But, to me (and this is my personal opinion), it is the same thing time after time when it comes to gay men in the media.
It makes me question, who is pulling the strings? who's making the decisions?

He has over 200 thousand friends on his myspace page. He had over 2 million views on his youtube postings.

He apparently has something that we all find interesting enough to see. But, we also, slow down and turn our heads to look at a car crash on the highway too.

I can't stand CC. I can't believe I even wasted time looking at his posts. I can't believe I am even still talking about him.

I would rather not see anything else about him again. But, I'm still going to slow down to see if there are body parts all over the highway next time I see a car crash site.

CC is tragic accident. That is why he's getting his own show. Hopefully, the rescue crews will clean it up quickly and we can move on about our lives.

People use stereotypes to make things out to be bad, I can throw a whole bunch of stereotypes out about any group of people to make them look bad, it isn't hard. People will use anything to their advantage to make gay people and who ever else look bad. Obviously people will use him for this reason, but that is not his fault that other people want to do that.

But it is his fault for letting his comments get out of control. By being loudmouthed in the public eye, he is giving those haters something to work with. He's not using any sense of decency to keep those comments to himself like everyone else (whatever, but you know some things just shouldn't be said, it's bad manners). He doesn't seem to understand that his actions and words are reflecting upon entire group of people, not just himself.

Yeah, this happens a lot even when a person says they're kidding. Some people take things way too seriously when certain things are meant as jokes and pointed out as them, like with CC right now. And there are people who try to back peddle with saying things were only a joke because that can't handle the disagreement.

But the way he is or any one else like him is, is not going to change anything, it's not going to make things worse then they already are. People will hate a group of people regardless of stereotype. A stereotype doesn't fuel any fire if a person wants to believe that a whole group of people are like that, quite honestly if you believe that a whole one person represents a group of people, you're an idiot.
