Chris Matthews: "I'm So Glad We Had That Storm Last Week"

It was a stupid, stupid thing for Matthews to say. He deserves to be vilified for it - apology notwithstanding.

O'Reilly mention is a deflect

it makes progressives feel better to bring up something else when one of their own is taken to task for saying/doing something stupid

it's a placebo

kudos to TX for calling shit shit

and O'Reilly doesn't have sex TX ....... he's asexual clearly

sex is a distant 2nd to interrupting guests :)

Four things to say about Matthews's statement:
1. It's Chris Matthews.
2. I think we all know what the dolt was trying to say.
3. The dolt did apologize and it seemed authentic for what that's worth.
4. It's Chris Matthews.

But, I do think the O'Reilly comparison is a fair and an interesting one. Chris is a dolt... but an authentic one... I personally think there were at times racial undertones to the Romney campaign... but Chris's fascination with this was absurd and his connections often completely ludicrous. The best was that he constantly claimed the right was portraying Obama as an "Other" but then would a turn around and call Romney "an alien" in the very next breadth.

The problem with O'Reilly IMO is actually that he is INTELLIGENT... but his show unfortunately is not at all and is completely inauthentic. He peddles nonsense to the GOP base that not even he believes... and I think this is the definition of despicable. This is precisely why he can come across as a normal likeable guy with Stewart, on The View, or late night talk shows... because he is... but that's precisely who he isn't on his actual show... so while he may appear more "composed", he certainly isn't any better.

It seems fairly obvious that this thread relates to a statement made by an MSNBC political commentator. Where do you see the Biden connection?

I also want to understand why in thread after thread, Springer has decided that he has to trash Biden?

I figured that the gracious loser thing would last about less than a day and it seems that I am proven right.

Jack. You've got to relax. This is going to be a long 4 years for you otherwise.

Haven't been around.

I get slammed for mentioning Biden with Matthews. Both make "uncomfortable" statements often. There's the connection guys.

How did this thread get to slamming o'Reilly?

Rareboy -- Biden could be our next President. The guy is a walking idiot. (I'm being nice)

Back to Matthews -- if almost anyone else had made a statement like that they would be off the air. Hopefully MSNBC will not renew Tingle's contract.

There are only two ways that he could become President and I'm horrified that one of these ways is probably already uppermost in your mind because we all know that Biden isn't going to be running as a candidate in 2016.

Don't want to think about that either.

Biden wants to run for city council.

The problem ultimately is the way news is produced and consumed. There is no profit for the major cable and broadcast networks to actually do real investigative journalism or meaningful policy and political analysis. The void gets filled by inane cable "news" shows who pay a handful of pundits to interview each other on their own shows and talk about politics, and they are more often than not wrong. In order to fill up space and time, silly gaffes or misstatements get magnified in seeming importance, when in fact they are trivial.

The right is making too much of Chris Matthews' statement, just like the progressives wasted hours of time talking about Mitt Romney's son saying he wanted to take a swing at President Obama during the second debate. Obviously, Romney's son did not want to or intend to attack the president. When I watched Bush on TV, I'd tell people I wanted to through a shoe through the TV. I had no intention or real desire to destroy my television.

My vote for the best show is "Up With Chris Hayes" on Saturday and Sunday morning.

Boo

And this is not a "right"Wing thing

Just a "right" thing

This is an Anne Coulter like moment

And making excuses or comparisons or add ons doesn't suit u well pale male

Heading to work IN THE SNOW !!!

Chris Matthews is becoming another Keith Olbermann. I saw some highlights of NBC's coverage and it looks at times that Rachel Maddow wanted to kill him on-air just to shut him up.

Course the highlight from Tuesday was Diane Sawyer being sauced up which nearly trumped Karl Rove's sepukku on Fox.

The Chris Matthews of today is not the one from several years ago, where he was a pretty independent Democrat who didn't suffer from hyperpartisanship. Now he's just another ideologue prone to the "attacks of the stupid" that ideologues in both parties make when they get either too happy or too outraged and something has to come out of their mouths breathtakingly inappropriate. Bet he got his tingle up the leg back, too!;)

I think we've discovered the basic problem behind the politics of global warming in the United States. Americans know nothing about how weather or climate actually work.

Americans blame storms on current events:
Pastor John McTernan Blames Hurricane on Gay People
And let's not forget John Hagee on the gays causing Katrina:
And now this Chris Mathews guy and the theory that the storm was an Obama Supporter.

But the truth is, storms are just atmospheric phenomena.

Just another partsian hack. Rachel Maddow looked like she wanted to kill him the other night.

Good heavens.

If everyone hasn't figured out be now that Matthews is a blithering hack...then there is no hope.

Matthews has a 2 hours podium on MSNBC everyday. I know, . . which means about 15 people watch him.

Good one :grrr:... how exactly did I derail this thread EIGHTEEN posts after O'Reilly was brought up? Do you know what actually derailed this thread? The fact that this is the umpteenth thread on Matthews saying something stupid... we get it... he's a dolt... most people don't want to waste their time talking about the obvious over and over again... and so the topic tends to stray as to not become mindnumbingly dull...

Please don't derail the thread.

Start your own thread showing the smartness of Biden if you want. (I think it would be very hard to prove that point).

You should take your own sage advice.

You derailed your thread in the first post by making a specious and irrelevant connection between Biden and Matthews.

One is the subject of the title of the thread the other is not.

Stick to your topic please.
