Christopher Hitchens is dying

This news doesn't surprise me.
During his debates, he keeps on coughing and looks very unhealthy.

What surprises me is no one picked that up afew years back and if this cancer can be prevented for an earlier detection or it doesn't matter if you can detect it early or not?.

I saw him recently on Real Time in which he was giving a interview on his memoir. He had a booze bottle in his hand(alwYS DOES WHEN HE APPEARS ON THE SHOW) and he was coughing and breathing heavily-the man looked sick.

Yes, it is an awful way to go, I know, my Grandmother had pancreatic cancer at the age of 89, and lived about 3 months longer than Dr's prognosis of 6 months, and did it without Chemo from the start. She was very active to the day she passed on. I was her caretaker for 6 of those months. I can never wish any ill/bad things on anyone.

The funny thing about that(well not really funny) but my mum knew a man, who literally never went to the hospital and when he did for the first time he went after complaining of stomach pains. He was diagnosis with cancer(don't know which kind) and died a couple months alter-the moral of the story was that the man had the cancer for years! before and after he learned...:(

I've never heard of him, but Cancer is an awful disease to have. I'll have to keep an eye out for his writing.

Really ? So you not know about any religious debates?
Its everywhere on youtube.

I think that most normal people don't spend a lot of time watching religious debates ;) only reason I even know who he is is because of some militant atheists on another forum I post on.

It's sorta inevitable. For example, the comment section automatic broils over into one when anything religious is in the video or even if it is brought up! I kid you not!

so what do "normal" people normally do?

eat, sex, work and that is it ?
what a robot LOL

I only know who he is because of watching Bill Maher and because one of my ex's roomates had one of his books.

Debates on religion bore me to tears Telly. It's like arguing over whose imaginary friend has better hair. Organised religion has nothing to do with God or Sprituality.

well you should write a book or two and sell millions like Hitchens did.

^ And part one of a far better clip as "the Hitch" eviscerates the Catholic church. :=D:

I just went to catholic christening ceremony today.

The baby know nothing about this and it became a catholic child. I suppose it is just cultural/custom thing to baptize a child. Nothing to do with god what so ever.

I still disagree with the idea of baptism on an infant on a fundamental level and the idea of original sin.

if just 10% of all Catholics would pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, then we could possibly see changes in his thinking/Repentance, and maybe a complete cure of Cancer.

No amount of praying changes anything.

if just 10% of all Catholics would pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, then we could possibly see changes in his thinking/Repentance, and maybe a complete cure of Cancer- which ever is the Merciful God's Will concerning him. We can, through Prayer Change one person. I refuse to pray for Death of any sinners, as I too, am a sinner before God. I can only pray for God's will for Christopher.

I don't think there are enough people on the planet that can prey away the atheism from Hitchens.

It is a shame but the man lived his life the way he wanted, lived the high life and enjoyed himself. It just sucks that the human body can't take what goes for enjoyment these days. Stupid frail human body.

I think he enjoyed his life, and feels he gave something back to the community in the form of rational thinking and entertaining debates and writing. You will be missed sir.

Absolutely. That is how 10% of Hungarian Catholics in the 1950's fought an unbloody battle with the Communist, and that is just by praying the Rosary for 7 or so years-

Took his time. Don't think Hitchens quite has 7 years though ...

How would you know? Have you tried? God doesn't work on our time frame, he only works in his own time. Change through prayer can have an immediate effect, or takes place over time.

I have a rock I pray to and it makes things happen, magically. Sometimes you have to pray to the rock for a long time, but it works.

Mikey, I understand original sin, I simply don't believe in it. It seems that it's there just to control people. I am sure there are some that would say the same about all religions and the belief in a god or gods in general.
