i'm not hating on beyonce, but i do agree with what ms. karen walker is saying. i was a fan of beyonce's at one time, and i am a fan of destiny's child. but, my problem with her is that she was put on a pedestol in that group, while kelly, latavia, letoya, michelle, and farrah we're left on the back burner. matthew knowles used that group as a platform to build beyonce's career, and look where kelly and michelle are? which makes no sense to me, because the way i see it, if you come from the best selling female group of all time, EVERYONE in the group should be on TOP as far as solo careers go. but who gets all the major promo's? i dont blame kelly rowland (who's also up for a grammy this year, which she might not win, but i'm happy for her regardless) for leaving the knowles camp, because she wasnt going anywhere. she's doing better internationally than she was domestically. and michelle, well, i dunno if she'll ever leave the knowles camp, but i would hope that she would.
I also remember when destiny's child got back 2gether after their hiatus (aka catapulting bey bey's career) when they were on oprah. Oprah had asked beyonce why kelly and michelle were singing more on the destiny fulfilled album than the previous albums. beyonce's response was that she felt that their voices had matured enough, so they could now sing more lead parts......

and thats why i dont really support her as an artist, because i felt in that statement that she made, she was basically saying that her group members, aka her 'sisters' sounded like shit before, but now all of a sudden since they did solo albums and had some success with it, now she's going to allow them to sing on their record, not HER record, THEIR record. GTFOH!!!!
and ms karen, you do have a point with what you said about any other artist recording 'single ladies' and shooting the same video etc. it probably wouldn't have been the same, but bey's a cash cow, and everyone loves what she does. i never really thought of her as being THAT great. she can sing, yeah, her dancing's alright, not as great as ciara's.

but, i guess the grammy's have become somewhat of a popularity contest, and there are A LOT of artists, whether mainstream or underground, who get snubbed whenever they DESERVE a nom.
