Are you looking for advice about the circumcision or the post-op care?

Yeah, what is wrong that you need surgery? Long history of problems?

There was a post a few days ago from a young guy who had the same problem. The surgery went well, he is thrilled with how his new cock "works" and from the pics he posted, it was beautifully done. Good to know since conventional wisdom has it that circumcision on adult males is complicated and not always successful. Take care!

It sounds like they tried a more conservative approach before planning a full circumcision. That's good, even if it didn't work out.

The "All about Penis" sticky thread in this forum, there's some threads from members who had circumcisions as adults. Read through those and it will give you an idea of what to expect.

Summary:
  1. You'll probably have general anesthesia, so someone needs to drive you home from the hospital and stay with you the first day or so, if possible. If it's someone that has seen your peepee before or doesn't freak out at the sight of blood, that will help.
  2. Buy supplies that you need (comfort food, soft drinks) ahead of time because you won't want to be walking around a grocery store for a few days after the surgery.
  3. You'll probably have a pressure bandage and self-dissolving stitches after the surgery. Your dick will be swollen and not pretty the first couple days (the first 48 hours after any surgery is when the swelling is at its worse). Peeing will not be fun. Getting a hard on will not be fun. There will be times when you think, "Oh god, what have I done?".
  4. See #3 above and take your pain meds. Don't try to be a soldier who suffers through the pain. Take the drugs and just sleep as much as possible the first couple of days.
  5. Ask the doctor (or the office nurse) 4 things: 1) when can I bathe/shower? 2) when will the bandage and stitches come off? 3) when can I have sex? and 4) are there any other restrictions (i.e. when can I drive, when can I go back to work)?
  6. The first time you jack off it will be different. It will be a relief, though.
  7. A few weeks after the surgery, you'll have forgotten all the not-so-fun stuff and you'll be ready to take it out for a test drive.

Oh guys seriously thanks so much. It is nice to think people care. What makes it worse though is that I am at university and well I will be by myself for the most part recovering.

I suppose it is a good excuse for take aways though! :D

Do you have a family member who can come stay with you for a couple of days? Or could you schedule it over a holiday break?

okay i recently just got circumcised about 2 and a half weeks ago. i didnt have any pain after but it doesnt mean you will (everyones different) and 90% of my stitches are already gone. and looking at it, im so impressed and glad i got it done. good luck bro

Thanks man, Another question, I have been researching and I have noticed afterwards that were the stitches are there is a ring of skin which is very prominent, is that just swelling? because i don't want to get cut and have a ring of excess skin near the head.

yeah dw thats just swelling and they'll give you a cream to help with it and speed up healing time

hey man! i got cut at the start of this year so anything you need to know, i'm your man

I pm'd you but idk if you got it?

Seeing the GP tomorrow, Idk what to say because I don't want to waste my time with creams I just want it done. I can pull it back fine when flaccid but erect it takes a while and it is tight and painful, near impossible to put a condom on to because the skin stays up at the top and makes a mound of skin.

Your GP would need to give you a referral to a urologist or a surgeon. Just tell your GP that you want to discuss a circumcision with a surgeon and ask for a recommendation and referral.

If you are going to pay for the procedure, then there should not be any obstacle to having it done (the same would be true if you were having the NHS do a circumcision for religious reasons).

If you want NHS to pay for a circumcision, you will have to meet medical necessity criteria. Phimosis accompanied by painful erections is sufficient criteria, so when you are asked, provide details about the tight foreskin and that it has resulted in painful erections and difficulty having sex. There are still discussions that you will need to have with the surgeon about what the options are- a full circumcision is just one of several options.

She (GP) referred me right away so just need to wait for letter to say I am meeting with my surgeon.

Probably an advantage of having a female GP- quick referrals on male GUM issues. :)

In the UK it would be normal for your GP to give you an immediate referal since they will want a specialists option. However since presumably your case is not urgent you may have to wait some weeks before you get an appointment with a Consultant at your nearest hospital dealing with such cases . Best of luck, at least you are your first step on the way to getting some relief from your problem.

hi, i did my circumcision in adult age to. it wasn't that bad. i only have local anaesthesia. process is about 30 minutes. and i still can wear jeans after the op done when go back to my home...

the post op is okay, only at first night i wake up because an erection. one tips i can advice is, when you get erection, use your both hand to hit your both thighs, it will reduce the erection quickly ...

The surgeon should be able to give a rough indication about the length of his waiting list. Whatever it might be, you can guarantee that for a non-urgent procedure like yours, the waiting time would be much less if you were to pay privately rather rely on the good old NHS. I'd guess you'll have a 2 to 3 month wait between seeing the consultant and going under the knife.

Good luck.
