Five Guys Burgers and Fries has arrived in my town.

It was good.

It has come to my attention that there are several burger chains that have National/International aspirations, which one would you choose to displace one of the top four (McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's and Carl's Jr./Hardees)?

(No voting for the top four! Even as 'Other'!)

I've only been to the 5 Guys - and for me it is over price, over rated, and takes too long to get your food. Oh yeah - and if you get takeout, the grease from the bag of fries will get on whatever you place it on in your car.

I have been to a In-and-out in San Francisco ( it was ok--nothing that special)---but I have not heard of the rest--but there apparently is a Smashburger a few miles from where I live. Maybe I'll go in the next day or so and report back.

In N Out Burger is by far the best burger chain I have ever been to. It's a shame they only operate on the West Coast. The owner doesn't want to expand any further from a reasonable distance from their Distribution Center, which I think is in Arizona.

The burgers are served hot off the grill and made to order, they actually peel their own potatoes for their French Fries, and their shakes are awesome, as well.

Five Guys is good, too. But I give the edge to In N Out Burger. They actually have people in the Drive Thru who physically go outside with a hand held computer and take people's orders, to expedite the line wait.

I said that about Wendy's the first and only time I ever ate there almost 30 years ago. The grease dripped out of the burger and onto the plate and soaked into the bun. That was the only bite I ate.

I've never been back.

In-N-Out kicks ass.

Five Guys is okay.

Fuddruckers is better

I hear that the vortex is awesome.

But something called Aunt Marries or something which is somewhat a protocol restaurant (Diddn't even know a place existed where if you don't have or show manners the owner kicks you out o_O)) but I hear the have the best burgers.

I went to In'n'Out quite a bit when I went to college out in the LA area, and I'll visit when I'm back in the area. I like them OK, but they don't send me into the orgasmic rapture that other people seem to get out of them. (And, if I recall correctly, their shakes are awful.)

I voted for Good Times. They're Denver-based (although so is Smashburger!), but they're not expanding out very fast. Their burgers are excellent, and the frozen custard is fantastic. Smashburger I just don't think is any big deal, and I haven't been blown away by 5Guys either.

Interesting responses, guys.

I posted this poll to try and figure out what might be the next Chipotle type gold mine.

The folks that got into Chipotle early on are now multi-Bazillionaires.

Keep the responses coming! Thanks!

Five Guys just recently opened in Rochester, but I haven't been there yet. The other chains are not in my area.

If I'm going to have a fast-food burger, I want it from a venerable Rochester chain...Bill Gray's.

The only one in the poll in Atlanta is 5 guys. I love their burgers and fries. Yeah, the bag will show the grease, but if the others used brown paper bags, I'm sure they would too. Besides, one order of fries feeds two people. I also like the free dry roasted peanuts they keep on hand in the restaurant.

I've heard McDonald's is going to be coming out with a new burger to compete with 5 guys. Must mean something.

Of course they came out with a chicken sandwich that was supposed to be more like
chic-fil-a-logo.png
, but I think it failed miserably. I expect the same with the new burger.

Really. So I guess Five Guys must really be growing. It will be interesting to see what they come up with though. Mcdonalds must be shaking :O

Nah..

And where did Chipotle have its start? I have no idea why Denver is a hot bed for "fast-style" restaurants, but there ARE worse things to be known for. Here's hoping "Mad Greens" - yet another Denver fast-style invention - takes off as well.
