Please tell me there are classical musicians in JUB. To me, this would make JUB complete :-)

Well, from my screen name, you can already tell that I play the flute. I am in the process of transferring and if things go as planned, I will be heading to boston next year!

I would love to chat with other jubbers out there who also love classical music!

Boston is a great classical music city. You'll love it there. I guess you're studying music?

dr beat

Yep, flute performance

I wanna be on stage performing in the orchestra! Or, teaching at a university.

You?
Or, are you just a metronome enthusist? I own a dr beat metronome. Sometimes I want to throw it out the window, but then I think about how much I paid for it...

hehe

Okay, while I do like 'the classics' I'm refering to classical music... Not classic rock:-)

i know that.........

but hey i love rock and roll

did i mention me love her......... and carmen too

Awesome! I can be seen listening to rock-n-roll music from time to time. Although, I have to say the 'emo' or punk music is what I listen to the most (besides classical, of course).

another classic

why do i like girl singers??????

carole pope is so cool

I don't actually own one. Too expensive...

My flute is sitting on the shelf in my college room right now, a bit neglected from having too much work to do. I'm probably going to sell my picc as well, as I haven't really used that at all for four years! Because I play the cello as well, I always play that in orchestras rather than the flute, which there are always loads of (better) people available for two/three spots.

Aw, I miss playing picc, you can always be heard over everybody else!

I love playing piccolo! Another flute player! yay!!!

I don't own a piccolo  I always have to use the school piccolo. I am hoping to buy one when I go to NFA this summer.

Yay! and a lot of money

It's okay dr beat. They ARE expensive. I hate it! Everything in music is expensive. I spent way over 700 bucks on music alone this past year! ugh! lets not even mention money for little things like getting my flute repaired, buying a new case cover, flute magazines, a new tuner!

I hate the fact that sheet music cost so much for a bit of paper! Even the stuff that's out of copyright!

So, Boston eh, you heading to the conservatory or something like that?

That would be correct! If I get in that is, they are so competitive! One school I am looking at only let in one Freshmen flute player last year! Luckily, I don't fall in the category of Freshmen, but still! Eeek!

Good luck! And I suppose there are loads of people applying for flute positions. What pieces do you use for auditions?

I have the Ibert flute concerto (mvt 1 and 2...The third movement I havent touched yet... It scares me), Burton Sonatina for flute and piano (all three movements), and Mercedante's Concerto in e minor (mvt's 1 and 3).

And of course scales and orchestral excerpts.

Restless, what do you play?!? And it's fun to listen to classical music!

I can see how that would be a bad thing! Surprisingly enough, I don't get sleepy from classical music. Most nights I fall asleep to my dopey emo/punk music... I'm weird!

Maybe I am just used to driving long distances and whatnot with classical on the stereo and forcing myself to stay awake (the drive from Fargo to my hometown is quite boring...).

I must admit to dozing off in concerts sometimes, despite the fact that I like the music and want to stay awake (only once in one I was playing in though).
