Cliven Bundy: Conservative Icon Walks Back "Slavery" Comments

The KKK at it's most popular time was filled with democrats.

I know it's hard for you to accept that liberals can be racists. Maybe we should call the 'closet liberal racists'.

Racists come in all colors, all ages, and from all political views.

At that time, there were liberals in both parties. No one in the KKK was ever a liberal, regardless of party.

Springer doesn't understand the history of the political parties.

And I'm certainly not arguing the fact that racism in the US is not the sole domain of the right wing.

But the fact remains. The 'but look at these comments from liberals' that Springer and his fellow travellers are re-blogging frantically after Bundy tripped them up are no where nearly as puerile and dumb as a rock racist as the comments from the man who has been stealing land to run his cattle.

The use of the word travelers should be specially used in the context of the meaning of the word --- it does not apply to conservatives only communist loving liberals.

Many conservatives came out against Bundy in the beginning and his use of government land for free.

The left here and in the media have tried to paint Bundy as a hero of the right -- which is isn't and never was.

Not quite true Jack, to many on the right he was a hero and iconic symbol of "freedom" but many were indeed troubled by his extremism. True conservatives honor rights and responsibilities... Bundy was a freeloading right wing extremist. FOX to its shame built him up big, and its media critic Howard Kurtz strongly criticized FOX's role in this. If FOX truly wants to be seen as "fair and balanced" which looks pretty preposterous these days, they'd better stop always catering to the hard right. It's one thing to respect and appreciate a more conservative view but a major news organization that becomes wedded to activist conservative politics does no one any favors. There's enough to legitimately criticize the left in this country about without making them look good by allying with the most extreme and vile forces on the far right. It was FOX's bandwagon approach on this that tied the whole story to the conservative movement in America... clearly the partisanship has to stop there.

If no one here watches FNC how do you know Bundy was idolized by them? You do know that Media Matters is a extreme liberal site that distorts FNC (I'm assuming you get your Fox News coverage from Media Matters).
