Shooting
A gunman opened fire inside a gay club in the US state of Colorado on Saturday night, killing five people and injuring 18.
A suspect was in custody and being treated for injuries, police said.

Here we go again.

Colorado Springs is a hotbed of right-wing evangelical fundamentalism. It is the home of the homophobic hate group Focus on the Family. It is also the home of the US Air Force Academy, where there are reports of overt Christian services and activities being forced upon nonbelievers and Jewish students. The city also has a history of antigay politics. We'll have to see if the killer is connected to any of that.

Same old same old.

I wonder if it might be the guns?

His picture isn't plastered all over the internet and nobody's mentioned his color 80x so.... another yt guy? possibly with a history of posting murder manifestos and hate propaganda on social media? It seems like these attacks don't come out of nowhere anymore, there's almost always a history of weird social media stuff the authorities ignored til it was too late. welp, cleanup on aisle 7. nothing to see (or dissect/psychoanalyze) here.

No, we need to start requiring club-goers to carry. imagine if everyone there was armed, it could've been like an awesome Mission Impossible action sequence. guy busts in thinking he's going to take out a bunch of twinkerbells. JOKE'S ON YOU BUDDY! everybody stops dancing and starts blasting him POW POW POW POW POW! and you know a bitch like me, too extra for her own good, shooting and still dancing. it would've been sweet.

I always thought Colorado was one of the more liberal states, so I was interested to read this. As you say, we'll have to wait and see.

^The Denver metro area and Boulder are quite liberal, but my impression is that most of the rest of the state is very conservative.

Colorado Springs is definitely up there.

You can literally google it, you don't have to guess any state's politics, unless you were leaning into the desired (and tired) "those terrible libs" narrative. In that case, disregard.

Another shooting it seems like this will never end

And yeah. His pics are out there.

His mother and her father sound like real head cases too

Thankful for the two brave people who intervened. The shooter looks like one of those super deep in the closet guys with a bunch of super repressed anger, and a nut job.

Terrorism on our own land continues to be the main problem. From schools, to churches, to factories, bars and clubs. I don't know what the answer is but I know parents teaching their kids to hate anyone in any form makes this issue so much worse. My own brother taught his son who already has enough mental issues to hate republicans. Republican or Democrat is doesn't matter. Teaching your kids to hate one party or the other is so wrong. :(
