We observe how folks (including those in the media world) do get names mixed up. For my part, I do wish those who post would take the time to become acquainted with the person behind the name. I don't recognize the BS that is being spouted as coming from Barack Obama. I have read his books and listened to his interviews and speeches and I find him to be a very bright and thoughtful person. His backgrouund and his life experiences indicate to me a person who is adept at making a constructive contribution as opportunities arise. His ability to seek out common interests working with persons from different backgrounds indicates to me that he takes the idea that we are "one nation" seriously. Does he make his presentations effectively? I'm impressed at the variety of people who want to hear more from him. Whether this positions him as a person fit for the presidency I wouldn't venture to say. Let's just say that many already feel that here is a man who is light years ahead in character, ordinary common sense, humility, and respect for the decent opinions of the ordinary people compared to what we have had for the past six years. Yes, and he does embody the "audacity of hope" our day so desperately needs.

Well, I'm not sure if it was on purpose or not, but I can see how it could be a mistake, especially when he fingers get used to typing certain words.

For example, I was writing a seminar paper this past semester and was detailing Mycoke.com's social networking type website and for some ODD reason, everytime I went to type Coke, I would type "Cock"!!!! Over and over again! I'm not kidding either. I spend too much time on boards like this!!!!!!

I saw that You Tube Cnn piece you posted,and certainly think some like that Republican strategist who needlessly but intentionally called him by his entire name,including his middle one of "Hussein" would love to link Barak Obama to Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden.....at least plant a seed of discomfort with him to the American people.I respect Senator Obama,though I think he is not qualified at the present moment with his lack of experienceto serve as president ,but I am very comfortable with the possibility of him being the Democratic VP nominee,and getting elected on a ticket to serve as VP.

I am embarrassed to see so much ignorance and laziness among the public at large regarding not bothering to just read a few articles,some information about him...it's not that difficult!And am ashamed and feel contempt for those operatives and cynical opportunists who are trying to go into the ethical gutter and manipulate and misrepresent to further their own political goals.

CNN is really very sloppy. I was watching a few weeks ago when some talking head mentioned New Hampshire, and a graphic was put up with "New Hampshire" printed across a map of Pennsylvania. A fifth grader would have got it right....

You gotta be kidding me. Maybe that pundit that was using his full name to evoke emotion sure he was trying to pull the two together, but the morons on the street, not a chance, their just morons. You dems just gotta have a catchy enough slogan to get the morons to vote for you.

Try coming up with a stellar idea like entrance test at the polls to see who knows enough to vote. See where that puts you on the minority spotlight.

It is a no win situation. The american public is ignorant and easily predjudiced. The funny thing is our basic freedoms allow them to stay that way and still decide who will lead us into the future....scary.

A fifth grader from the 60s, maybe -- today's fifth graders learn there are states, and some might even remember how many there are. Of course, there are fifth graders in those two states who would have a good chance of getting it!

But that's indicative of the problem: our educational system doesn't stress excellence any more; it stresses "being a good citizen" (can anyone say "Baaa!"?) and, thanks to GWB, passing tests. It's become "Trivial Pursuit" with a feel-good theme... and that leads to sloppiness.

I remember a few years ago seeing a bit where a US comedy show (can't recall if it was TV or radio) went out on the street asking random people if they would ever consider voting for an openly heterosexual man. Most said no.

I suspect there are enough ignorant people in the US to scupper Obama's chances.
