CNN Poll: Country split on how things are going

You're not listening. Accept that Obama is our President. He's been elected twice. He's in charge. Along with all the gloss and glamour comes responsibility. Obama is the big man in Washington -- leader of the free world.

I get the feeling that somehow many liberals cannot accept that Obama is President -- they're happy he got elected but somehow lack the faith that he can get the job done or accept responsibility for his actions. I'm just not sure how to express it.

Seeing as how you think Obama should do everything, I need to remind you that Congress needs to wake up and go to work. I got an email today for a petition to be signed to tell Congress No budget, No pay.

Dear [member of Congress],

Deciding how much money the government takes in and how much it spends is one of the most fundamental responsibilities of Congress. To do this job responsibly, you need a budget and framework to determine spending. But only four times in the past 60 years has Congress passed a concurrent budget resolution and all spending bills necessary to fund the government on time.

When Congress can't even meet the simple deadlines it sets for itself, it harms the American people's trust in the institution.

That is why I am asking you to support No Budget, No Pay, which will be voted on in the House of Representatives on Wednesday, January 23. I ask this not only as one of your constituents but as a supporter of No Labels, a grassroots movement of hundreds of thousands of Democrats, Republicans and independents dedicated to bringing a new attitude of problem solving back to Washington.

No Budget, No Pay simply states that if members of Congress can’t pass a budget on time, they should not be paid.

I strongly urge you to co-sponsor this important proposal, authored in the last Congress by Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) and Representative Jim Cooper (D-TN) and supported by a list of 90+ lawmakers in both houses of Congress.

It's a common-sense proposal, endorsed by both Democrats and Republicans, that can make our government work better. I urge you not to let politics get in the way of problem solving -- please consider supporting No Budget, No Pay.

Thank you,

Sincerely,
So if you are interested to sign the petition go here:

No Chance, tell us what you really feel about the President...made up numbers used by CNN isn't valid and results in an automatic 10 points off your final grade. Peer-reviewed journal articles and published dissertations are the only valid forms of empirical evidence allowed. Anything else, you get an automatic "F" for failure on your opinion-based memo on the President.

No it doesn't. It means a lot of people recognize that the state of the country is still not super positive as it's been in a recovery since the collapse heralded in by George W Bush.

The people re-elected Obama, any attempt you're trying to make to say that the poll shows people deeply distrust Obama or his leadership fails pretty miserably on that basis alone.

So you only approve of polls that agree with your point of view?

Let me guess ... you only watch and read "news" that also only agrees with your point of view.

I think if the poll had asked for party affiliation, it would have revealed that the ones who think the US is doing alright are predominately Democrat, saying so to support the President. Conversely, I think the nay-sayers were predominately Republican unhappy with the direction Obama wants to take us.

Hate is a word u throw around as often as u miss the bowl with your spray

In this case posting a poll from CNN constitutes

Hate is what u have in ur grinch like heart for the US - perhaps driven by envy

You need to find some new material

Really Chance? Really???

You have nothing to come back with except guessing about my toilet habits?

And your ridiculous and flimsy obsessively repeated assertion that by disagreeing with you that I hate the US?

And I need to find new material?

Pitiful Chance. Pitiful.

the survey was gauging how people view the current status of the country, not how people currently view the President.
The poll's just basically "do you think the country's in a good state"... kind of just an opinion question.
it wasn't a survey on how the President was doing

From the poll:
Do you approve or disapprove of the way Barack Obama is handling: (RANDOM ORDER)

I think if the poll had asked for party affiliation, it would have revealed that the ones who think the US is doing alright are predominately Democrat, saying so to support the President. Conversely, I think the nay-sayers were predominately Republican unhappy with the direction Obama wants to take us.

From the poll:
Among the entire sample, 34% described themselves as Democrats, 26% described themselves as Republicans, and 40% described themselves as Independents or members of another party.

Really truly

Tired of you using the word hatred to describe reasonable disagreement

So tired of it

It's cheap and insincere

And inaccurate

So stop it please

Dude, I don't give a flying fuck what you think of my "cred" because your posts are asinine at the very least. You couldn't win an argument with me with JSTOR at your disposal, so please pick up your sippy cup of STFU and take a big gulp on that note.

CNN and their "polls", I'm not even going to explain what is wrong with that topic. Ask a couple of statisticians like Nate Silver, whom ironically lives in Manhattan (like yourself) why something like 1 poll isn't exactly a barometer of the political climate when you look at it as a stand alone...

November 6th, 2012 was 2 months and 2 weeks ago, so LET IT GO...
