I know supposedly, they voted to end the BCS, but I'm not too sure if they mentioned when the new playoff system would make it's appearance. Anyone have a clue?

Being from Fresno, Ca, I'm fairly excited to see how our new coach will do. I love the enthusiasm DeRuyter brings to the Bulldogs. As his coordinator Toth stated, "We won't stop scoring until DeRuyter tells us to stop scoring." Love that!

Oh, the brother of David Carr, Derek, I think is fairly hot: 824874.jpg947831.jpgMER_p0727_s27_carr.standalone.prod_affiliate.111.JPG

I'm going ahead with a projection for the first playoffs games under the new format in 2 years.

Semi-finals:
Game 1: SEC #4 vs SEC #1
Game 2: SEC 3# vs SEC #2.

Based on that, I'll project the champ to be an SEC team :)

Out of last year's final top 10, only 2 return the all-important full-time QB from last season (Alabama & Arkansas); South Carolina returns with a guy who started the 2nd half of the season. Not sure about Kansas State's QB (I think he graduated). LSU is probably happy their QB is finished. Of course, the USC Trojans were not eligible due to probation to be in last year's poll but they were a top 10 program with an outstanding returning QB.

My Conf Picks:
Pac 12 -- USC over Oregon; Big 10 -- Wisconsin over Michigan St; Big 10 -- Oklahoma ; ACC -- FSU over Va Tech; Big East -- USF; SEC -- LSU over Georgia.

Oh, sheesh. The SEC is so overrated. ;)

Now that West Virginia is in the Big 12, I see a return to glory for that conference.

Ya know, I have a hunch that West-by-God Virginia is gonna give the Sooners a good scare in Big 12 - 2 Conference. WVA fits in well with the B12 style, alot of offense and no defense. Texas should be a player this year, too. I just wish they had 12 teams and played a conf title game.

I think the nat'l title game is likely LSU vs USC this year. Okie, Bama and FSU will be in the hunt, too.

Lindy has LSU/USC, too. That's a solid top 25 by Lindy. Keep in mind, they wrote this in April I have minor disagreements....I would flip UGa/S Carolina; Michigan is more like #15ish. I'm not big on TCU this year (esp 2nd half of their season). Wisconsin should be around #10. Va Tech has a friendly schedule and might finish higher. Nebraska would be higher but they have a few tricky late season games. Texas & Florida look to re-store their glory of a few years ago. A couple of sleeper teams: I think Tennessee will surprise and win 8 or 9 games. I look for South Florida Bulls to win the Big East...other surprises would be Iowa, Utah, NC State, Auburn and UNC.

By the way, Phil Steele's College Football preview has Florida St vs Oklahoma playing for the title. OU does not have the best history in deliverying on high expectations, and FSU has fizzled on expectations the last 2 years. I think SEC (LSU, Ala) vs Pac12 (USC, Ore) is more probable.

I doubt it. Coach Mark Richt and my Dawgs pee all over themselves at the first hint of expectations. It's a tier 1 school in a state with tier 1 high school talent with a tier 1 athletic budget, tier 1 support and ties LSU in number of players from the SEC in the NFL (more than Bama or FL). Yet, we have nothing to show for it. Sadly, it is an undisciplined program that at any give time has as many players suspended as on the team. And when they do play, we lead the conference in penalties.

After the first two games, when our secondary returns from suspensions, we will have an awesome defense. It' the best defense at UGa since 2005. We've got a veteran QB with NFL potential and solid receivers. We lost both kickers to the NFL. The big weakness is our offensive line (and unproven RB's thanks to Crowell getting arrested). It's hard to win big games in the SEC without a strong o-line. Let's be real, the reason the SEC keeps winning national championships is the defensive lines in the conference are NFL-ready. It is the D-lines that seperate us from other leagues. LSU/Ala/SC have excellent d-lines. We're lucky we dont' play 2 of those 3.

I'm expecting 9-3 for Georgia.

The biggest beneficiaries of LSU's problems are Alabama and USC if they make it to the title game.

Wisconsin shoudl win their division since Ohio st is banned, mich st @ Michigan can define that division, but i continue to hear Nebraska will win it and play WI in the Big 10 championship?

USC is on a mission, so USC over Oregon

Oklahoma is very strong but they have a sate @ morgantown, ill be rooting for the mountaineers!!!

LSU and Bama are the cream of the cop there. LSU will play, i think UGA in the Conf game and go to the Natl game vs USC.

Early on, I am very curios about the Georgia/Mizzou game in Columbia. They are so jacked up in Columbia, Mo for their first ever SEC game...toughest ticket in the Show Me State in a long time. Mizzou is having O-line challenges and Georgia is great across the D-line but Mizzou is a pass-happy team and most of the Dawgs secondary is suspended for criminal behavior. Could be an epic matchup with both teams at half-strength.

I just got back from the USC- Stanford game on Saturday. Great game with USC winning by one touchdown! Both teams are very evenly matched; it was good competition. But, it was hard to watch since I can root for both teams.

I think you meant to say Stanford won by a touchdown. I'm an SC fan and it was hard to watch SC have a loss so early in the season. I wanted them to go undefeated this year but Stanford has their number.

Glad Georgia survived Tennessee. Now, on to Columbia, SC for a #5 vs #6 showdown with the Cocks.

You just caused me to do a double take SuperBoy.... last i looked STanford was winning....

What a great weekend for College football... Washington at Oregon, Georgia at SC, LSU hosting Florida, Ohio State playing Nebraska, WVA at Texas, and the game I wanna see most is ND at Miami.... so many good games this weekend...

I am sitting here watching Stanford and eating cold pizza... have to go to the bar for the seven o clock rounds.... tooo many games and not enough TVs here at the house

Yeah, the Dawgs were just flat embarrassed and humiliated Sat nite. I said at the start of the year, they have a history of pissing all over themselves when the stage gets big.

I do feel bad for our QB Murray...he returned to Athens to find his house egged and rolled ,and we now learn that he was notified late in the week that his Dad was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and had surgery today. When he tweeted late last week that he couldn't sleep, Brent/Herbie on the telecast assumed it was sleeplessness worrying about SC's defense, we now know otherwise. Very tough time for a good guy.

As a Dawgs, it makes life even worse when we see those hated Gators climbing in the polls.

Thanks SuperBoy. Dawgs did me proud winning the Cocktail party. No 6 in the BCS now.

I need your Trojans to beat Oregon and Notre Dame and we need to keep winning so we can beat Bama in the SEC championship to perhaps clear a path to a nat'l title appearance. Yeah, I know...it's a leap. It would help if Bama goes ahead and knocks LSU out of contention, too.

Hope the Trojans take care of UCLA, then Notre Dame and then Oregon in a rematch. That's my wish list!!!!!

anyone shocked that A&M and Johnny Football knocked off #1 Bama?

Just want to gloat a bit. . .

South Carolina beat Clemson AGAIN!

South Carolina Gamecocks 27 FINAL
Clemson Tigers 17

Damn! Wisconsin really beat up on Nebraska. it was painful! Well, I still look forward to a Stanford victory in the Rose Bowl.

Sammie - the Dawgs came so close to beating Alabama!

What a heartbreaker in that SEC title tilt. I needed oxygen by the end of the game. Both teams left everything on the field...guts, hearts and souls. What a vicious battle. And to think we sat on the 8 yard line, and our WR inadvertenly 'catches' a tipped pass allowling the clock to wind down. It wasn't meant for him to catch, of course, he was being instintive. Heartbreaking!

So, now we get Nebraska down in Orlando New Years Day in the Parting Gifts Bowl. That Husker Defense might be fun!
