Comics!

One thing I like about AVX is that it is still showing the split in the X Camp, we see Storm doing what she was meant to do by staying with Cyclops in Utopia, pulling him back when needed.

I bought an Alpha Flight graphic novel over the weekend. Apparently it's part of some bigger Marvel story arc about fear or whatever.

I loved how stereotypically Canadian the team is. I liked the story, the art, the characters. I am looking forward to the next volume.

There isn't a new volume. It was supposed to be an 8 issue miniseries, then the first couple of issues sold so well that Marvel said it was going to be an ongoing series. Then they backed off that and canceled it after the original 8 issues.

What's everyone been reading? Thoughts on Avengers vs. X-Men?

I've been enjoying the miniseries so far.

Apparently Havok is going to be leading the Uncanny Avengers. Does this mean Cap and Iron Man are going to be taking orders from Alex?

this thread is a little dead, but just taking a shot in the dark... does anyone use any software/cellphone apps for managing their comic collections?

I'd kill for something that could automatically notify me each week of which issues are going on sale so I know when to go to the store, and keep track of which issues I already have so I can avoid buying duplicates.

I don't know of software that tells you this weeks releases - although there are websites that list them.

If you are looking to catalog your collection check out http://www.collectorz.com/comic/

I don't use the comic software as my collection is mostly boxed up waiting the day I have time to deal with it - but their software for CD's / DVD's and Books works great.

Yeah, I can second the recommendation for the team at collectorz.com. A nice product. Like you, I too use their book cataloging software regularly - great for managing my collection, I like the way you can add an item just based on UPC/barcode entering - and in the past, the music cataloging software.

Finally caught up on Avengers vs X-Men. Wow. Cyclopes arrested--and happy that the no more mutants curse has been broken. The other four former Phoenixes in hiding. Xaiver dead. Where do we go from here? I really enjoyed this story and look forward to what comes next.

So the next X-Men movie is going to be based on the Days Of The Future Past story. I'm a huge Rogue fan, do you think they'll bring her back to the big screen? And if that's the case, would Anna Paquin return? I wouldn't be opposed to recasting her, I think she doesn't look the part at all...but knowing Bryan Singer he won't, he'll probably use her if she's available.

Just wanted to say this. I do not know if you have read let alone heard of this comic. However I ask of you guys please give the comic X-Treme X-Men a shot or a look at least. I cannot guarantee you it will be your cup of tea, but I personally enjoy it. I only say this because sells are low and I would hate to see such a unique comic go away.

I did give X-Treme X-Men a shot, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. I think there are just too many X-books right now for me to keep track of everything and the multiple universes/Xaivers was just adding to confusion. With that being said, here are my current thoughts on the rest of the books:

All-New X-Men--so far, I'm loving it. I have to admit that when I heard they were bringing the original X-Men from the past, I was skeptical, but I'm interested to see where they're going with it. I'm also enjoying Cyclopes and Magneto and their little band of outlaws.

X-Men--the last two issues focused solely on Domino and Daredevil. I'm not a huge fan of either, so I'm hoping next month will be better.

Astonishing X-Men--Still loving the relationship between Northstar and Kyle and the last couple of issues have really added to Warbird's character.

X-Men Legacy--This book has been a total cluster since the reboot. I'm not sure even Legion can understand what is going on in his head. I'm hoping this book takes a different turn and is not just all about Legion.

Uncanny X-Force--The book had a decent run. Now I'm interested to see the next series. I'm also excited to see a Marvel book that doesn't include Wolverine for a change. Seriously, the guy is in everything. He's not THAT great.

X-Factor--bit of a different book and seems they stretch the storylines out quite often, but I'll keep reading.

X-Factor is always a great read. But I don't know what's going to happen in the coming months as the writer Peter David suffered a stroke last week.

hey guys. i just want to list some of my favourite comic moments from (relatively) recent memory. theres going to be a lot of x-stuff, because thats mainly what i read.

chamber gives a class about "coping with physical changes." what beautiful little scene. from x-men legacy.

rogue, living every furries dream. also from x-men legacy.
X-Men-Zone- 015.jpg

a young jean grey, schoolin' wolverine. from all-new x-men

I enjoyed the new Uncanny X-Force, but I must have missed a few things (even though I subscribe to all the X books).

1. When did Storm go back to the mohawk?
2. When did Storm become head mistress of the Jean Grey School? I know Kitty has taken charge of looking out for the time displaced original X-Men and that was going to take up a lot of her time, but I missed where Storm got the job.

The Kindle offers some like you suggested through Amazon's app store:

The thing that worries me about this is how much of a data plan will be used up listing info on zillions of comic's you're not interested in (and pix of the covers) ???

Am I the only one who really hates Rise of the Third Army Crossover. I mean I picked up Green Lantern after the reboot based on Sinestro Corps War and Blackest Night. But this has been utter crap apart from Simon Baz and Hal and Sinestro's whereabouts I haven't really liked the storyline of this army nothing is really happening, no battles no moments of despair etc. Really may drop the books I have if this First Lantern crossover/event is as flat as the last one.

Also Astonishing X Men needs life injected into at the moment its just blah.

it happened in "wolverine & the x-men". they are actually quite consistent with inter-title continuity lately.

Wow Geoff Johns is hot, and sadly he is retiring.

OK bumping time.

Just read the latest issue of Young Avengers and the last panel had a WTF moment seriously didn't see it coming. Don't want to spoil it so won't say much other than I'm enjoying the comic but love/hate Miss America like Jubilee her name and code name are the same which does my head in, she has no real superhero costume when the whole team do, she uses Chica(sp) waaaaay too much like Banshee in Uncanny Avengers using ye ands laddie stereotype much. Plus really know nothing about her but I have to say YA has been solid.

Picked up the 2nd Batman/Superman really not liking it too confusing but I will give it a shot.

Green Lanterns new writers hopefully will do something better than the God awful Rise of the Third Army and Revenge of the First Lantern crap we got with lights out. Relic interests me, what happened with the emotion spectrum in the universe before ours?

Liking All New x-men and Uncanny hate that Gambit is ending this has been a fun enjoyable comic book. As much as I love Marjorie Liu Astonishing just didn't fit in with all that was going on around it so hopefully they'll out her on another X book soon.

X-Factor is going to be missed the most by me PAD has done a great job, I just hope they are rebooting it in someway.
