Coming Out Kicking: openly gay kicker trying out for the NFL

Be honest you guys.

Early thirties, youngest.

tbh, age doesn't matter when you're that big of a hunk (!)

Love everything except... he's a kicker, the least respected position in football. Actually they aren't even considered football players by many people. Even if he is on a team, I don't think it will make much of a difference. They don't really interact with the others like the rest of the positions do.

Damn. Get us together :dead:

middle america.

At the end of the day I don't believe this is the player the gays want, however it is the gay player we need. This guy could be the one who tips the scale and allows some (Probably not all) players to come out.

I applaud his bravery.

Why is he not the player the gays want? An openly gay sportsman with the potential to raise the profile for others who feel they need to be closeted in order to a) play and b) play. What is it about him that makes him not the players the gays want?

Is Alan Gendreau a good football player? Is this guy good enough to be in the NFL? At the end of the day it isn't about Gendreau being gay it is about whether or not this man is talented enough to be a NFL player.

People do realize this guy is a kicker that's about the least important position on a football team.

I am kind of disappointed at the people at Outsports they are hyping this guy yet he is just a kicker.

I have read some comments on other sports forums and the consensus is that Gendreau is using his sexuality in order to get media attention and ahead.

Is this guy a good football player? Can he kick well?

Ultimately that's the most important thing, I notice a lot of gays talk about his looks and yes Alan is cute. However, in order to get respect in men's sports gay male athletes MUST be talented. Gendreau had a solid college career but is a NFL team even going to give this guy I chance? I've go on ESPN and the other sports boards and according to the comments from the straight guys they say he isn't really that good.

I think only two teams in the NFL are looking for kickers this year. Chris Kluwe seems to think this guy has a shot I hope so.

But I'm not getting my hopes up Alan tried out for the NFL last year and did not make the cut.

I looked around for him today and he is draft eligible (which is tomorrow night), but he's not even in the top 15 for kickers. But, that doesn't mean he won't be signed as a free agent and put on a team. Who knows!

dayam!

I'd take him (and do him)

Gives me a reason to get drunk with my straight buds tomorrow night (possible he might have a slight chance with Carolina Panthers or NY Jets)
