Last month I came out to my sister over a text message. Anybody else have similar stories?

i came out to my mom almost as an accident. turns out she knew before i did.
 
My mom found out about me--by snooping through my bag and finding 'International Male' and 'gay porn' magz.
 
Oh, I had just gotten increasingly flagrant about the nature of my relationship with my first partner until my mother finally interrupted a phone call and asked. At that point, I had pretty much done everything possible, short of beating on a drum while blowing into a whistle with rainbow banners flying and covered from the neck down in pink triangles, to draw their attention to it, so I ended up saying, in tones of exasperation, "Yes, Mom. I am gay, and I am on the phone with my boyfriend. I have him on hold. Can we talk about this later?"

In more mature hindsight, I could have been more tactful.

coming out via text is just another example of technology for the bad ;)
