I've never used gang showers with anyone - each time, I've been on my own.

The gym I go to has semi-private stalls - basically, they are cubicles without doors. Two rows of seven facing each other. You can't see the person next to you, but you can see four people across the way about 6 feet away. Some guys (usually the older ones; 30+) go naked; the younger guys usually either keep their underwear on or just don't shower. I was 15 or 16 at the time. I was mortified but I had no choice I was away at camp for a week. It was the first time I showered with other guys so naturally I compared myself to them without being obvious. For the most part I faced the wall and never turned around except to leave. Now I could careless and have no problem using them if I need to.

I started using communal showers when I was 12 and in the 7th grade. This was my first year of junior high school and we showered after PE class. The only thing that bothered me about it was that I had not yet grown any pubic hair and I was showering with boys that were in the 8th and 9th grade., all of whom had pubic hair. By the time I was 13 and starting 8th grade I was growing pubic hair. After that I was very comfortable with every aspect of communal showering.
