Hey there. Does anyone have good computer skills? I cant even run windows and im dreading having to take it in. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me out?

Thanks!

i moved your thread from Requests to the Computer Forum. The requests for is part of the adult content areas of JUB and is designed for threads of an adult content nature. Your thread fits best in the computer forum.

And I can't help you - I'm a novice. Sorry.

Most every problem is solved by formatting hard drive (which erases everything) and then using the windows cd that came with computer to reinstall windows. There is plenty of info on how to do this with a quick google search, but if you have questions feel free to ask.

When i turn on my computer it will ask em to choose how to run windows. When i try and get to windows....a blue screen comes up and says something about a "hard error" and it stays like that. I have tried running it is safe mode but it either just goes through a lists things that are not responding or lists a bunch or lines in DOS format and stops.

it sounds like either you have a bad hard drive or Windows has gotten currupted. Do you have the install or rescue/restore/ CD for windows? if so you might be able to repair windows if that is what is wrong. but if it's the hard drive you have most likely lost everything on the drive. :(

When it asks you how you want to run windows, try selecting 'safe mode'. If it boots without crashing, then it could also be an issue with a driver.

/\ well i believe he said he tried that. in a PM i found out that he is indeed getting "hard disk error" so i'm not sure it's a windows issue or just a hard drive going bad. i recommended he try knoppix to see if he can get ot he files on his hard drive and save them to a USB drive or something.

just wondering if you had any luck on your error? And if you had a chance to find a free copy of knoppix. you can often pick them up at computer/electronic stores for free. lots of magazines on linux have free copy of various Linux versions out there (knoppix also). I got a book called "hacking knoppix" that is a great beginner book on it and it has the free CD.

I'd first try reinstalling windows and going for the repair option when prompted. I have had that work before. Where it has failed I have replaced the drive, reinstalled windows, set my old drive up as a slave and run it along side the new one and just copied my data over or run data recovery progs on it.
