No seriously, I remember watching Letterman for years and then being shocked when Conan took over. And we were all like, "Who the hell could possibly take over for David Letterman? Who the hell is this guy?" And of course he managed to pull it together into something awesome. But that was 17 years ago?! I just hope I live long enough to cringe when I hear some kid say "Who's David Letterman?"

Much luck to Conan in the new digs though, he won me over.

To each his own. Thankfully we have lots of choices (Letterman, Kimmel, Ferguson, Fallon).

From what I've read, Johnny Carson had wanted David Letterman to take over the Tonight Show. I suppose there was no way all these years later NBC could have given Letterman the spot that Carson and many others thought he deserved.

Interesting to note that there are still no female late-night hosts.
