you don't lose anything by responding. Just don't expect much. And if he turns out to be awesome, then more power to him. And if he turns out to suck, then whatever, you didnt expect much, right?
 
I would say, let it go. For whatever reason, he decided he wasn't interested. Nothing you can do about it.

EDIT: Oops, sorry, somehow I missed the part where he said hi back to you. In that case, why not just come right out and ask? "Are you still interested in getting together?". Make him be the one to make a decision.
