There I was reading down the thread and was just about to say ''don't write him off'' and there you go he came good. It may have been the biggest shock of his life so don't hold him walking away from the conversation against him - it's better that he collected his thoughts, got his head around it and responded in the right way than flip out and say something that he didn't mean.
When I came out to my parents my dad took it really hard and said some really hurtful things at the time that I now know he didn't mean. He apologised some time later and we've grown stronger slowly. It's taken a long time to repair that trust but we're much closer now than we ever were whilst I was in the closet and it feels great not having to resent him for hiding who I am anymore.
There was some great advice in this thread - fear and uncertainty of the unknown seem to be two of the biggest barriers to coming out. We all worry about what we could lose, but even though we're not happy living a lie we don't think about what we could gain. From your first challenge you found out that your best friend is worth his salt and will support you with other challenges that lie ahead.
It's up to you how quick you take it now - as Lube said Coming Out is quite liberating, for me it certainly felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders each time I told someone and after a few times of meeting new people and them asking if I have a girlfriend or not I've become comfortable with saying 'no actually I'm gay' or something to that end.
I hope you can restore friendship with the girl you talked about in the OP too - it seems you didn't part on the best of terms and it would be good to show her that this Lion is kicking open the Wardrobe door.

thanks for all the advice and kind words. im sure in time ill be on better terms with her..might just invite her to lunch one day, she found out 3 years ago so i doubt she even remembers.
Other than that my friend has been blowing up my phone with texts asking questions. Hes pretty hooked on the fact that i dont fit any of the typical stereotypes for a gay guy.Its actually kinda entertaining to answers the questions because ive never really been able to talk about it with someone i know in person. Seems like hes fishing for answers on whether i can tell if other guys are gay and as i told him "its not like that chick in xmen where she can detect other mutants and their powers... i dont walk into a room and suddenly know theres 27 gays and lesbians but none over a class 3" (if u dont know by the quotes i make of xmen... i like the movies and comics... i can relate to them heh =p) That pretty much had us laughing because that would make dating alot easier. I told him i really dont have gaydar and hell i thought adam lambert was straight because i dont read the magazines and figured he did it for the concerts with all the makeup.
All in all though, now that he sees i trust him with my deep dark secrets hes actually shared a few as well. I really was lucky to have a friend like him to take me to rock bottom and carry me back to the top, dude is like my anchor to sanity and if he is gay im sure ill have the opportunity to do the same for him.
Well im gonna go throw on some glitter, get my pumps, and my pasties and hit the town for the night........ just kidding...hahah. Oh man, i love being stupid.

ended up coming out to another one of my friends last night due to alcohol and poor choice of words when i was joking around. My roommate has a cat and she wanders in and around every inch of our apartment and we were chilling in my room playing call of duty and she happened to jump on the bed. I turned to my friend Frank (the first one i told) and nudged his arm and said "theres the only pussy that will ever be in that bed" and proceeded to laugh like drunken idiots. The other guy playing with us turns around and goes "do tell...." and in between laughs and drinking my whiskey and sprite i go "i like da mens dude..."
He gently sets down the xbox controller and spins around in the chair slowly like the dramatic gopher and shifts one eyebrow up and the conversation went like this:
Him: "seriously?"
Me: "seriously."
Him: "like dude on dude gay?"
Me: "well... ive yet to find another form of gay beyond happy..."
Him: "hmmm well i guess the birthday card i got you this year wasnt so much of a gag gift after all... from now on ill just get you vaginal products."
What i find thats so funny is that before they always made gay jokes non stop and playing online it was homo this gay that... now they try and not mention any gay jokes or remarks which is kinda cool since it shows they dont want to offend me but at the same time i still scream em out when playing online or driving with them. Which in turn just causes the jokes to start up again for about an hour or two then it dies off. Im like the puppetmaster and they do my bidding...muaahaha nah just kidding.
I did tell them both to their face "you guys are awesome and im lucky to have you all in my life. I love you guys." Its a rather good feeling when you have friends that know the real you and you build a deeper friendship.

Its been quite a while since i updated this... things are going good and ive come out to 2 more friends. Everyone has been really supportive. One of my really close friends told me i had to tell his girlfriend so i did.. she flipped shit and screamed "OH MY GOD I HAVE MY VERY OWN GAY GUY!" and now texts me to go shopping and talk and all this crap... i dont shop... i dont even like grocery shopping... let alone talking on phones...
we laugh our asses off at her because she told me i was a terrible at being gay (she was just joking around). I like not fitting the stereotypes of what a gay guy should be... it makes it easier for me to tell people because people look past the gay fact and realize im the same dude thats played football and paintball with them, and buried their younger siblings pets, and worked on their cars with them... the cool thing is that out of this my new roommates all know im gay and are 100% comfortable with it so the next year is gonna be pretty fun and new.
