Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Tex.) defends party held at burlesque show
Here are 3 reputable newspapers that covered the story.

And here is the link to the "burleaque" site.

I like the pix from the Americablog.com site best.

In checking out the sites in this thread I ran across this site:

http://www.dkosopedia.com/wiki/Republican_Sex_Scandals#2008

It has a long list of Repug sex scandals.
Every now and then you run across this stuff and wonder how a Republican party stays in business.

I don't really see what the problem is here. Had the Congressman taken them to Paris and the Moulin Rouge, I seriously doubt anyone would have objected to that....it's pretty much the same thing. People need to grow up, and get off this whole family values kick. It's time to wake up to the fact that times are a-changin' and the idea of family values has changed too. What was couth and accepted years ago is different from what is accepted now. Give the man a break, he was entertaining people to give him money.

You're preaching to the choir here, broadwayboi. You need to tell Pete Sessions and your Republican party to get off their moralistic high horses. The spectacle of Pete Sessions, who scolded Janet Jackson for a wardrobe malfunction, holding a fundraiser at a hootchie-kootchie show is unseemly (and highly amusing).

Burlesque show?

When was the last time anyone used the word "burlesque" ? It sounds so quaint.

Next thing you know, Vaudeville will be making a comeback.

Margaret Cho did a burlesque show last year called "Sensuous Woman." It ran for several months and was very well-received. As I recall, this was just part of a larger burlesque revival.

All the same, I thinl that ass-whipping falls outside the bounds of "family values." I'd like to ask Sessions if he'd be comfortable broadcasting this "burlesque show" on network TV.

This was not a burlesque show. One of those pix, I'm sure, showed that chicks tits. eeeeeewe. This is a T&A show at a "mens" club. Most cities zone areas where they will not be close to churches or schools. They put them out on the interstate or some other far away place so they cannot be seen by the moralistic citizens of their fine cities.
Repugs work so hard trying to make laws that take away from someone's freedoms that they think they are above that moral ideal. Of course! They can do whatever they want and explain it away using some explaination that their constituents will believe and vote them in when they are up for reelection. Take Foley for example. Or Haggard with his church.
But I'm rambling. I'll stop.
