contact lens help

ok so i decided im gonna give them a try...i been poking around online to try to get an idea of the brands and diffrent styles before i go to the eye doctor......can anyone help recommend some good ones for me to try? i need colored ones, i wanna have my eyes blue, i have no specal eye conditions...

ive had cooper clear for years and ive always been fine...they are yearly so i dont have to purchase so many at a time...its also usually cheaper

Contact lenses can be tricky. The eye doctor is really the best person to talk to about comfort and fit, as they will have the option of letting you try multiple materials, sizes, and thicknesses. For example, I just recently switched from Acuvue Torics ( a weighted lens) to a less heard of brand. The lenses are thicker, but hold moisture better and don't rotate when I blink. Overall, your eye doctor will be able to examine the position of each lens and your own eye will tell you which you like as far as comfort goes. Tell your doctor what you want and need, they will recommend something, and ask them if you can try it for a week or two.

I wear Acuvue, also. I wear them every day and haven't had any issues.

I have the Acuvue Oasis ones. They are the best ones I've ever had. They cost almost twice as much, but they're worth it. Try them.

Cheaper isn't the criteria you should be using when deciding about your eyes!

I switched to hard lenses (gas permeable) after years of wearing soft lenses because I was getting a strange strobe light effect in indoor tennis courts (also because I had sliced yet another soft lens with my fingernail). After the initial period, I found them much more confortable than the soft ones and the correction is much better than with soft ones, especially if you are astigmatic or need reading glasses.

The downside to the hard ones is

• In windy weather or otherwise, when you get a dust particle in your eye that feels like a boulder or
• If you go from a warm indoors into the cold, your eyes will tear up a bit
• If you do any sports that shake up your body so the lenses bounce so you don't havve the focal point aligned or
• Water sports where you risk losing them unless you wear goggles.

I usually have a set of day lenses on hand for when I go on holidays or whatever.

Coloured lenses are fun for a bit and you can get different ones fairly cheaply. Your choice of permanent lenses shouldn't be based on this.

If you get colored lenses, only purchase the Acuvue brand. Trust me I have tried the other brands of colored lenses and it nearly suffocates your eyes. Overall, I prefer my clear Acuvue 2 contacts over color though because they allow your eyes to feel superior comfort.

I think colored contacts look odd. I dated someone who had them. As light changes so does the pupil and the inside by the pupil was brown where the blue didn't cover.
