Hello guys.

Those who wear contact lenses, how were your first days? Was it comfortable or you had to adjust few days? How long did it take you?

Thanks. I'm trying contact lenses and I need to adjust I guess. I feel some dryness perhaps and a bit blurry vision in the dark (like coronas around objects)...

I wear contacts primarily only when I am photographing. I have to use lenses that are touric - since I have astigmatism, the lense is weighted on the bottom and actually has to spin to the right orientation.

It did take a few days to my eyes to get used to them, and for me to get used to putting them in. I remember one of the first days I got them I was to photograph the Jacksonville Jaguars pre-season camp. I drove up there with my glasses, and never was able to put the contacts in before the event.

Most eye doctors will have you go back in about a week after you get them. It could be that your prescription isn't exactly right (with glasses, they can adjust them per each degree, contacts aren't as precise so you might need to try a different lens). Also, they are made in different sizes -after a week you may have to get one that better fits your eye.

I think it took me about a week to get used to contacts. I still don't wear them more than about a day or two though - even though the kind I have are supposed to be designed to be weeklies.

I had to change about 4 different types before the doc found the ones that were not fogging up on me. If they are fogging up on you or feel uncomfortable after a week, you need to go back.

Different brands will fit different ways. I wear soft disposable contacts and, as long as I have enough solution on them when I put them in, never have a problem. I changed brands once but had problems so the doctor switched me back - problem solved.

I agree, I have been wearing contacts for years now, and as harristate says, even to change brands makes a difference because each brand has a different diameter and or radius.

It does take a week or 2 to get used to them, but once you have, you dont even know they are there.

They are amazing to wear when you peel onions, no eye watering.

Oh and what you call corona is what i would call lens flare, specially if you are far sighted, then you cannot wear them at night when driving, makes you feel drunk and disoriented.

It's been many many years - but when i began wearing contacts, the actual wearing of the contacts was easy - in fact, i never felt them in my eyes at all - if it weren't for being able to see better, i would not have known they were there.

That said, it took a month for me to get good at putting them in and taking them out. So sometimes my eyes were sore from trying. And i had seen many other people over the years have the same struggles.

I can put in or take out a contact with no mirror in a couple seconds now - but in those early days, it could take an hour or more.

It took me awhile to adjust to them, about a month or so probably. When I first started I could always feel them on my eyes, couldn't stop thinking about them. Of course, I was 12 when I started wearing them, so that was probably a factor. After that first month or two I got used to them and don't even think about it anymore. Putting them in now is so second nature that I don't even realize I'm doing it half the time.

If you're experiencing dryness or itching, try switching over to Clear Care to clean them. It uses hydrogen peroxide to disinfect them, which turns into water over several hours. My eyes started feeling a lot better after I started using it.

Also If you have dryness make sure you have a brand that has a high water content in the makeup so that they let oxygen through to your eyes.
